  1. I think I disagree. I think we’re too far gone in the hearts and minds battle. The only way to win now is to force reality on the ‘gimme’ crowd. It’s time to go full Galt. They can go to hell, and the rest of us can go to Texas or it’s nearest equivalent.

But doing this, we must also keep our national defense guard up. Maybe we should thank N. Korea for being nuts.

    1. And yet we have never had as many Republican governors as we do now. Have we ever controlled as many states as we do now? Democratic power factions like the Unions have proven to be paper tigers. Republicans by any benchmark (other then the Presidency) are doing quite well in the Hearts and Minds battle. Heck, our biggest loss in that arena was an “Own Kill”, the lose of Congress to the Democrats by the actions of “Porkbusters”, and their now provably laughable claim that the Deficit (Dropping most every year the Republicans were in charge) was too high. And now, once we are getting some of our own back, you come, speaking as Wormtongue. I would think you are in the pay of the Democrats, but I have heard the same from so many “Real Conservatives”(TM). You and yours need to stop being despair junkies……

        1. Nothing changes? If you were to look with eyes unclouded by hate, you might see that the Gun Control nuts have been losing for over twenty years. You might see the Unions go down in flames IN Wisconsin! No victory is permanent in a Democracy, but if you say that we never stop sliding left, you are lying to us and yourself……

          1. Hate? No.

Yes we win battles and I applaud when we do. Frankly, we should be winning. The left is still a minority in this country. But they gain control by being the majority selectively and fighting where we aren’t.

The right always does what Bush Sr. did, they end the battle before finishing off and people die, like the kurds thanks to Schwarzkopf. They rehabilitate the scoundrels. They give them the benefit of the doubt when there is no doubt.

It’s going to collapse. Then you can tell me how we’re winning.

          2. It will make a large difference, as you would see if your eyes were not clouded by hate. What you want is a huge difference, but, alas, that requires a Filibusterer proof majority in the Senate, a veto proof majority in the House, and the Presidency. You know, like Obama and FDR had, and the Republicans have not, since the Civil War. You and the other Naysayers need to grok that a one or two vote majority is not going to get a lot done……

          3. …are those the same ‘losing’ gun control nuts that just pushed through draconian laws in Colorado, Maryland, and New York; and are set to bureaucratically institute universal registration; and are about to apply a $12 mil political pressure campaign to eliminate pro-gun Democrats?
            I don’t think they know they’re losing.
Also, when I see someone babble on about “haters” and “naysayers” I generally put them in the same pigeonhole as that well-known schmot gurl, Meggie McCain. Just sayin’.

          4. Yep. the same losing gun control nuts, the bluest of the blue states of Colorado, Maryland, and New York managed to pass “feel good” laws. They needed a panic to do it, and now they have to get rid of them, because in their panic, they imagined that 7 round magazines exist, and that the police unions wouldn’t riot if the police were disarmed too. The same people who been set for thirty years to bureaucratically institute universal registration, only to see the dream move further down the horizon, again. Read what you have written. Winners don’t have purges. The rank and file are getting angry because the Democrats don’t have the numbers for their sorry old game, the one where they get to “assign” no votes, so Red state Democrats get to pretend to be “Pro-Gun”.

Of course they know they are losing. But Politics is the Democrat’s religion, and like any other losing religion, they are redoubling their efforts. Winners don’t hid in other states to stop a forum from forming. And to have to do it in Wisconsin? And then, once they failed, to have the Republican governor of their state, the home of “Progressivism” turn and unstoppable deficit into a surplus? Having to put Nation Money into a state that was supposed to be the safest of the safe? Yep, winners all…….

You might. But I watched “Porkbusters” lead the “Real Conservatives (TM)” to attack the Republicans and give control of Congress to the Democrats, when the Republicans had been reducing the Deficit for 5+ years in a row. Whoops! The Democrats exploded the Deficit ten fold! Can you give me an example of the “Naysayers” doing something one/tenth as good on the plus side? Making the Perfect the Enemy of the Good is a Republican problem, as embodied by Mr. Anthony, who is so enthralled by his despair that he preaches Complete Surrender (It will work this time!). Really, read his post again (first post). Complete Surrender, rout, hid in the woods. At least Ms. Rand was honest enough to see that doing so would lead to a general collapse, not a political opportunity for the guys in hiding….. Perhaps you need a pigeonhole for those who grasp Defeat from the jaws of Victory, hmm?

          5. if your eyes were not clouded by hate. What you want is a huge difference

Look Jr, Why do you choose to undermine your own arguments with false characterizations such as these.

What is it that makes me a hater? Do I hate some things? You bet, god is love and says hate what is bad. So would you call god a hater?

Would I like a huge difference? Again, you bet. But that isn’t my position so again you mischaracterize. To what point? It isn’t winning you any converts.

I think you’re quite capable of making an argument without the slurs, but perhaps you will continue to prove me wrong.

          6. Read your own post, the one that started this tread, again. Chock full of bile, isn’t it? Perhaps you are projecting. I did not call you a “hater”, I say you need to see with eyes unclouded by hate, and I stand by that. Not a slur, just pointing out you are so focused on the negatives that you don’t seem to see the positives anymore. I mean, really. “Full Galt”? “They can go to Hell”? We do live in interesting times, things could be better, but we have had historic victories over the Left as well. Perhaps you, with eyes that see so clearly, can tell me why now is the time to flee the Democrats and hid in the hills (Which is what I understand “Full Galt” to mean)?

      1. The Republican governors lack a disadvantage that saddles presidential contenders: the RNC, which is more prominent in national strategery than state/local strategery. If Karl Rove ran all gubernatorial campaigns, the Dems would win big-time.

        1. I think it’s more a case that the Press has lost enough influence that they can only do successful “Two Minute Hate”s on the national level. Certainly the RNC was not responsible for what was done to Palin, or “WaterBottleGate”………

    2. if you say that we never stop sliding left, you are lying to us and yourself

Let me give due consideration to your assertion; Am I lying to myself? What was my argument? It was a absolute statement, which is something you should generally avoid but that I felt was justified in this case. What did I say, which you have not addressed…

The only way to win now is to force reality on the ‘gimme’ crowd.

I never expected Obama to win a second term. In that case, I was lying to myself, but my eyes have been opened. Obama didn’t fool the people; the people really do want the BS he’s selling. Have you failed to realize that Robert?

Giving me anecdotes about how we can still win arguments DOES NOT ADDRESS this issue. So your arguments, fine as they might be, are missing the target. The topic of this post is swaying hearts and minds. You can point to individuals that see the light, but this doesn’t address the issue either. The fact is these marching morons support the ‘progressive agenda’ and their numbers are actually growing. More people are on govt. assistance each year, not less. The percent is growing. If you want to actually argue the issue, refute that.

  2. I agree with Ken, we are simply outnumbered and the war is likely lost. What we see as a bug, they see as a feature. Of course, math will ultimately win in the end, but there will be a whole lot of misery before it does.

  3. How do we build a campaign around telling half the electorate that they’re slackers? All that will do is motivate them to vote against us and let the Dems keep calling us racists and fat cats.

I don’t know if there’s a solution at this point beyond giving them enough rope to hang themselves, but they may well hang the rest of us in the process:-(.

  4. Oops, mentally switched gears in the middle of a comment. Anyhow— I’ve always thought that there is a profound truth to the statement that “without Stupidity, the Republicans wouldn’t have any leaders, and the Democrats wouldn’t have any voters.”

But insulting those Dem voters isn’t going to be productive. But maybe what might work is to let those “low information votes” know that stupid is exactly what the Dem leadership thinks of them. The same way that the Progressive Left has successfully gotten those people to believe the “Republicans are stupid, evil old white men who want to take your free stuff away because they don’t want you to have any fun.”

Unfortunately, right now the Progressive Left controls all those means of disseminating the truth about the Dem leaders, and have done a fine job of covering for them.

    1. insulting those Dem voters isn’t going to be productive.

Yet, insulting conservative voters and candidates works fine for the left. Lack of shame is the problem. If shame doesn’t work, the equivalent: flamethrowers, would probably not be allowed (where did I put that recipe for Greek fire?)

Liz Cheney got it right. There needs to be some fight. Why do we like that RINO turncoat from NJ? because at least he fights.

Breitbart got in their faces and asked simple questions, showing them to be fools. THAT ISN’T ENOUGH. We have to expose their idiocy so even they know they’re idiots. We have to teach them shame. This is war and when you are fighting a numerically superior enemy you look for ways to be locally superior.

Ten well trained people on the issues should be able to shame 100’s that are wrong. What does the left do? They storm any venue with conservatives speaking. That’s fighting. Where are we?

Instead they’ve intimidates us off the battlefield (and paying their way with taxpayer money… why does this continue? Partly because the elites in the GOP are allowed to play the same game to a lessor extent. That’s not winning.)

You can’t win without a fight and you can’t win if you delude yourself into thinking it’s a close fight. It isn’t, but it should be. They never should have elected these unqualified bozos in the first place. Doing it twice should have made the scales fall off eyes. It has for me.

  5. “Unfortunately, right now the Progressive Left controls all those means of disseminating the truth about the Dem leaders, and have done a fine job of covering for them.”

Not exactly. The means you are using right now to refute that control didn’t exist for the majority of us twenty years ago with the results showing up in the constantly slipping percentages of the main stream media. Narrowcasting is taking over from broadcasting in that people are selecting their information sources to a higher degree with the passing years. It is quite possible that the low information voters will gradually become medium information voters with far less means of avoiding all contrary opinions.

    1. The problem with the media today is everyone can have their own bubble. We need to target those bubbles. With fewer numbers is much more important than ever to focus on specific targets… using an anti-journolist.

Isolate and destroy. Lather, Rinse, Repeat. Relentlessly.

    2. ” The means you are using right now to refute that control didn’t exist for the majority of us twenty years ago”

And frankly, it still doesn’t exist now for too many people who still get their news from the MSM.

  6. Chock full of bile = “Full Galt”? “They can go to Hell”

Robert, apparently you didn’t fully get the literary references which both of your examples of ‘hate’ are.

‘Go to hell’ in this context, refers to something they will do of their own doing. It’s an observation, not a slander. The going to Texas makes this clear since you wouldn’t be around to help them. I understand your confusion.

Where is the hate in ‘Full Galt?’ It’s just another way of saying I’m not going to help you drive yourself to hell.

Really Robert, I can do a much better job of expressing hate when it’s called for.

It seems to me you are using the progressive definition of hate which is, “If you don’t hand over your hard earned money to me because I ‘need’ it, that’s hatred.”
