As an aside, I noticed the very first sentence
and thought, “didn’t he used to have more press conferences”?
Well, google delivered. According to this website, Obama had 27 press conferences in 2009 and a somewhat fewer 12 press conferences in 2012. He’s still doing way more such events than Reagan or Nixon did, so I don’t really see much to comment on other than that it’s an interesting change in behavior.
