But He’s “Likable”

Obama hits all-time lows:

Obama’s woes are not limited to honesty and his managerial skills. Fifty-six percent say he is not a person they admire, and an equal number say he does not agree with them on important issues. Fifty-six percent also say he does not inspire confidence, and 53% don’t view him as a strong and decisive leader. All of those figures are all-time records for Obama in CNN polling.

OK, so they don’t agree with him, they don’t believe or trust him, they don’t think he’s competent, they don’t admire him, or think him a strong and decisive leader. But they like him.

I don’t know how to explain this cognitive dissonance except it’s the last bastion of the fear of being thought a racist.

  1. It’s not dissonance. It’s simply feeble minded. It’s emotion over intellect. Dissonance requires they have two thoughts… or any thoughts.

What did the Jedi say to Jar-Jar? Being able to speak does not indicate intelligence.

  2. I think that a fear of racist accusation may be there. Far stronger is the self-identity as a person who does not oppose progressive thought. Their experience throughout their schooling, and here in Portland in the workplace, shows them that people opposed to progressive thought are the people labelled “dummies” by both authority figures and peers. One of the problems with institutionalizing the support for “Nerdy” interests , whether STEM or “diversity”, or whatever, is that people are terrified of not being thought one of “the smart kids”. Opposing Obama is automatic dumbness around here.

Not feared to be there.. *IS* there. Just recently Oprah tells us all that there could be a very large segment of the population that opposes Obama on a strictly racist basis.

Chris Mathews has been screaming that for years now.

It’s there…accusations of racism with absolutely no basis in fact, are palpable, real, and somewhat effective.
