Lawlessness

An outbreak:

We’ve now reached a point where a flailing president, desperate to deflect the opprobrium heaped upon him for the false promise that you could keep your health plan if you wanted to, calls a hasty news conference urging both insurers and the states to reinstate millions of such plans.

Except that he is asking them to break the law. His own law. Under Obamacare, no insurer may issue a policy after 2013 that does not meet the law’s minimum coverage requirements. These plans were canceled because they do not.

The law remains unchanged. The regulations governing that law remain unchanged. Nothing is changed except for a president proposing to unilaterally change his own law from the White House press room.

That’s banana republic stuff, except that there the dictator proclaims from the presidential balcony.

IF the White House had a presidential balcony, he’d probably do it from there.

  1. Obama doesn’t do Presidential balconies. He uses styrofoam Greek columns so he can play Zeus and threaten to blast his enemies with lightning bolts.

  2. And doing his Mussolini-esque, “Il Dufe” chin-tilt while he’s doing it.

And maybe Michelle standing near-by, ready to do her “Evita” act:

“Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.”

    Arbeit macht frei!

  3. At least Il Duce made the trains run on time. I bet his website would run on time as well.

AND he mistress was a lot hotter… Just sayin’.

    1. It’s more like Obama banned private coaches and wagons with the promise that everyone could ride the awesome locomotive the government was building, and then on the day of the roll out we found out that the boiler is only 80% complete, can’t take more than 30 PSI of pressure, and they haven’t even started working on the connection between the boiler, the pistons, and the drive wheels yet. So he says private transportation is still illegal, but he’ll let us keep using our existing coaches for one more year while they finish working on the train.

  4. “The law remains unchanged. The regulations governing that law remain unchanged. ”

It’s not that hard for the Administration to issue new regulations or temporary regulations.

All they have to do is publish a notice in the Federal Register or if there is good cause issue
    an emergency regulation.

It’s the same way, when there is a big hurricane somewhere they give the people in the affected counties extensions to file tax returns, etc…
