  1. I object to your use of the “satire” and “humor” tags for that image. It’s too true to be satire and it isn’t funny.

  2. TimeTraveling Conservative: Hi! We’re from the future. Let us explain this cartoon to you!

Slave: So, you’re saying that in the future, the Democrats say that the Negros don’t have to work in the fields, and they can’t be whipped, and they are free, except that they have to clean the Master’s bedpans? Those Democrats are a lot better!

TimeTraveling Conservative: No, you don’t understand, let us explain again.

Slave: So, you’re saying that in the future, the Democrats say that the Master has to clean my bedpan? I like those Democrats!

TimeTraveling Conservative: No, you don’t understand, let us explain again. It isn’t about race anymore, and no one has to clean anyone’s bedpan. Today, it is about money, money to pay doctors to keep people healthy.

Slave, okay, I listened. You say that in the future, the Democrats in the future want us to all help each other to not getting sick? They sound like good Christians, why are you complaining? You want to trade places? And while you pick that cotton, tell me about the President again.

    Later:

Slave: So, the Democrats today make me work in the fields. But in the future, the Democrats want the Masters to pay for the fieldworkers to stay healthy?

TimeTraveling Rightwinger: To be honest, the fieldworkers in the future aren’t citizens, and they usually don’t have rights, so no one will pay for their healthcare. Hey, don’t look me at that way.

    1. TimeTraveling Conservative: Hi! We’re from the future. Let us explain this cartoon to you!

Slave: Sounds like Democrats are just a douchey in the future as they are today.

    2. TimeTraveling Conservative: Hi! We’re from the future. Let us explain this cartoon to you!

Slave: Wait back up a minute. The Democrats are saying the people who freed us were the ones behind slavery?

      TimeTraveling Conservative: Uhh, ya.

Slave: So they just make shit up about how you hate poor people and people with different skin colors? And that you want old people to die and no one to have access to doctors? That they use racial stereotypes to dehumanize people who disagree with them about the government telling people what kind of health care to get?

      TimeTraveling Conservative: Yup.

Slave: I am not really fond of the government either. Poor government is why I am in this situation. Who would give these people so much power over their lives? I would gladly pay for my own health care if these Democrats would take these shackles off. I bet next you will tell me that the Democrats don’t even pay their women as much as men yet campaign on a war on women.

      1. Slave: So, the Democrats want to force rich people to pay taxes for the poor people’s healthcare with this thing called “insurance”, and the Republicans want to force rich people to pay taxes for the poor people’s healthcare with hospitals and “ERs” . And you think this difference between insurance and ERs is so important that you’re going to compare it to my living hell on Earth.

        1. Actually, we want the State to keep its long, unlovely, hooked nose out of medicine and the insurance business entirely, but that was an adorable try. Babby’s first troll?

          1. Let me get this straight: you want the state to not subsidize hospitals in any way? All hospitals will be private? (Maybe you’ll make an exception for the Veterans Administration, or maybe not, but I’ll ignore veterans if you like.) So, if some random person without money shows up at a hospital dying from something treatable, it will be up to private hospitals to treat them on their own dime, right? And whether or not those costs are ultimately passed on to you, at least the government had nothing to do with medical treatment, and that’s very good, right?

Sure. That’s the libertarian dream. A dream that can’t ever get any electoral traction in the United States or any other democracy.

Hey, I’m curious: why do you describe the government as having a “hooked nose”? I ask because if I google “hooked nose” and “stereotype”, I get page after page of results relating to Jews. If you meant to reference Jews, congratulations! I think it is a great achievement of this thread to be offensive to not one but two peoples who celebrate the end of slavery.

        2. What the Democrats want to do is take away the good insurance plans for working people and instead make them get plans that totally suck and cost too much, so that poorer or sicker people can have their identities and life savings stolen by Russian hackers.

          1. “….so that poorer or sicker people can have their identities and life savings stolen by Russian hackers.”

Not just the poor or sicker, George. The identities of the working people who lost their plans, lost their doctors, lost their hospitals and have to pay more will also have their identities stolen by hackers…….

We’re talking about spreading the wealth here. And as you well know but the kool aid drinkers do not, socialism spreads the misery.

        3. “Living hell on Earth”? If you weren’t so racist, you might read Fredrick Douglas’s autobiography, where he admitted that he and many other slaves had better living conditions, better health care, and better food then poor freemen. He was able to use his extra food to pay hungry free children to teach him how to read, for example. Just like today’s democrat system, the bad part of Slavery was how it degraded both the master and slave mentally and spiritually. You and yours have recreated the system you fought a war to keep, but without the work that gives one a sense of worth. Can’t have the “less fortunate” having a sense of worth, they might try to escape! (Who says the Democrats can’t learn?).

          1. Of course not. That’s why I’m a Republican, not a Democrat. Note that it’s the Left writing books like “What’s the matter with Kanas”, which tries to explain why people “would vote against their economic self interest”, aka, why don’t more people want to wear the Democrat’s shackles? I am not the one trying to bring back Slavery here, without even stability. We did not see food riots by the Slaves in the South, but we have all seen the panic caused by the EBT system failures……….. Ah, Leftist “progress”!

          2. And, shame on me? Please. Note that Douglas gives no examples even one/hundredth as bad as the places where the Leftist dream has been realized, such as NAZI Germany, Soviet Russia, North Korea, Communist China, Communist Cuba, Zimbabwe. We have seen Hell on Earth, and “Slavery in America” was so mild compared to what the Left has done, that if it weren’t a useful weapon for you and yours, it wouldn’t be a blip on the Radar. Last, I note that for all your preening about Slavery (After, of course, the Republicans did all the actual blood sweat and tears), you and yours were more then happy to send back escaped slaves from the Soviet Union and Cuba. How many men did the Democrats send to stop the Iron Curtain from going up? That’s right, none. What’s the Democrats official policy on dealing with escaped Cuban slaves, thanks to “secular saint” Kennedy? That’s right, send them back. And now you lecture us? Pathetic.

          3. Bob-1, it was a rough life back then for everyone. If you go look at some of the pictures of slaves and their masters, the free people look as haggard as the slaves. And think of all the free people who did the same type of physical back breaking labor as the slaves, like coal miners.

Slavery was totally jacked up but lets not pretend that everyone one else at the time lived some fairy tale life.

          4. Wodun,

What would it take to convince you that you’re totally wrong about slavery?
If I started listing the atrocities that the slaves endured that *no one* who was not slave had to endure, how long would list have to get? How horrible would each attrocity have to be, before you were convinced. I realize that this is off-topic from Obamacare, but your ignorance of slavery shocks me. Educate yourself. I think it is time for me to go away again — like last time, I simply can’t talk about anything related to African-Americans with anyone on this blog without wanting to recoil in horror.

          5. So go already. All you and the other trolls do is parrot Official Truth which is already broadcasted 24/7. Your collective presence is superfluous.

          6. Would your list of atrocities include being starved and eaten? Murdered in every conceivable way, such as poisoned, shot, hung, disemboweled, tortured to death, burned alive, skinned alive, and all the other things free men were doing to each other?

Black slaves may have suffered more frequent or steady abuses, but probably didn’t see the absolute peaks of abuse that was out there as a rule, because they had value and an owner to sue or answer to. They also weren’t frequently in a position to cheat a psychopathic killer at poker, or take his land, etc.

          7. Bob-1, you don’t know what you are talking about. I am well aware what slaves went through in America and their travels to get here. But I also know what life was like for people who were not slaves. It wasn’t as romantic as you seem to think.

All you do is set up strawman positions and call people racists. Pretty typical that you can’t defend Obamacare so you pop in and start calling people racists. That’s why you are really considering leaving, because you can’t defend your ideology.

They only thing worse than a racist are the people who falsely accuse others of racism.

Don’t forget you belong to the party of Jim Crow, that filibustered civil rights legislation, started the KKK, fought a war for slavery, and tried to prevent women from getting the right to vote. The same party that uses racial stereotypes to dehumanize and otherize their political opponents today. The same party who gave us a President who said he could tell who the immigrants are by looking at their faces.

        4. ” So, the Democrats want to force rich people to pay taxes for the poor people’s healthcare with this thing called “insurance”,”

It is actually the middle class that pays. Consider the bronze plan that I was forced into. I pay a monthly premium and only get benefits if I spend over $6350 in a single year. They only benefit of having insurance for me is marginal at best, I get a small discount negotiated by the insurance company on services. That is just for having insurance and was a benefit I already had under the old system, I get no benefit from Obamacare. It drove up the cost of my health insurance and health care.

How many people are like me? Who pay into the system in terms of premiums and get no payout in terms of services? My premiums subsidize not only the people getting subsidies but also the rich people on gold plans who get generous benefits and use them. When someone with a gold plan does massage therapy and has it picked up by the insurance company, the costs are shared with the group. My premiums pay for rich people to get massages while I have to pay all my expenses out of pocket.

” pay taxes for the poor people’s healthcare with hospitals and “ERs””

This is highly exaggerated. It is incredibly cheaper to just go to a regular doctor’s office for treatment unless it is an actual emergency. When people go to the ER, they are followed by debt collectors until they pay up or declare bankruptcy. A rational person would weigh the choice between $150 doctor visit and a $10,000 ER visit. In any case, it is a small number of people who do as you claim and doesn’t justify taking over 1/6 of the economy.

” so important that you’re going to compare it to my living hell on Earth.”

Well Bob-1, my deductible went up 222% and for a silver plan it was 289% before the insurance company pays the full expense. When I checked things out about a month ago, it looked like my doctor was still in my network but this week, just before the deadline to get coverage, I get a letter in the mail saying that I might lose my doctor.

So, now I need to go through all this crap again to see if I do. If I do, then I need to find a primary care physician. Then I have to do physicals and crap all over again. This means someone is going to stick their finger up my butt. Then I get to see which specialists are in my network so I can have a biopsy. This is a 3 or 4 month process at best.

And what if I want to shop policies to see if there is one that lets me keep my doctor? Well, the WA state exchange has been down the last two weeks.

Are the working conditions as bad as past slavery? No. Is it an accurate statement to say Democrats are forcing me to pay for their health care? Yes.

          1. So if you dislike the deductible on your bronze plan, why not get a gold plan?
get the lower deductible and the services you seem to crave?

          2. I want my old plan. It was cheaper and had better coverage than the bronze or silver plans. But some nutjob who didn’t realize how complicated health insurance is or how shovel jobs aren’t so shovel ready decided to raise the cost of my health insurance and health care.

Now, I get to deal with the nutjob’s deciples who are trying to tell me the negative effects of their ideological government take over of the health care industry are a good thing.

I don’t know why you seem to be taking delight that Obamacare made paying for health insurance and healthcare harder for me but it goes against every reason used to sell the law and shows you have some serious pychological problems aside from being a douche.

  3. Not that a democrat then or now would phrase it like that, or even in many cases admit that it represents their position. But yup, that poster captures democrats, the party of slavery.

    1. Yes, because fighting a civil war to preserve slavery, implementing Jim Crow laws, terrorizing innocent people via the KKK and expecting someone to pay for their own contraceptives is exactly the same thing.

Yours has to rank among the dumbest comments on the Internet, including those on YouTube. Do you ever step back and listen to yourself?

      1. Rick Santorum compares Obamacare to Slavery. Sarah Palin compares
Obamacare to Slavery. Rand, Rush, and the GOP silly train are
        always on about contraceptives.

        1. Ah nice. From DN, Obamacare is nothing but a service to provide contraceptives. So those of you that lost your insurance; relax… They’ll give prophylactics for what they are doing to you.

BTW. Santorem compared the fight against Obamacare to fight against Aparthied. But I’m sure you’ll provide some citation to regain your credibility. Sarah Palin compared the National Debt to slavery, which OWS also did.

Still awaiting DN’s citation to majority of 4 engine aircraft can’t handle 2 engine failure on same side. His failure to resolve this issue suggest he’ll just say anything regardless of any truth to it.

          1. To the people of Amsterdam, 4 engine aircraft can survive two engine failures. and the pilots are trained for that. They’re not really trained to have an engine rip clean off the wing, but sometimes things just happens, apparently. Four engine aircraft can’t necessarily maintain full altitude with two out, and pilot workload is increased, but they can fly quite well otherwise with a lot of rudder input (if the two dead engines are on the same side), which is the same situation as a twin engine aircraft with one engine out, but generally with a slight bit less excess power.

          2. One example = majority of aircraft? Still no citation. Yep, you’ll just say anything regardless of any truth to it. We should just call him Lying-Guy.

          3. Boeing 737-200, Algeria 6 March 2003

Just after passing V1, an engine failed. Almost immediately after liftoff, control of the airplane was lost and the airplane crashed, killing all but one on-board.

          4. Boeing 737-200 is a 2 engine aircraft. 2 engine aircraft that have 2 engine failures will have difficulty, but…

Air Algerie Flight 6289 reached V2 and took off. Once airborne (after V2) at 78 feet, an (1, single) engine failed. The crew failed to retract gear to reduce drag and didn’t work as a team to determine the nature of the failure. Eventually, airspeed bled from 158kts to 134kts where it entered a fatal stall and crashed a mile from the runway. Pilot error is clearly called out at as contributing cause of the crash. If single engine failures so frequently resulted in crashed, why does the airport have a Jeppesen “one engine out” procedure plate for 737-200’s?

Oh, and Lying-Guy, if you’re not completely embarrassed yet; the Kalitta 747? The engines that failed where engine 1 and 4, which are on opposite sides of the aircraft.

          5. So Santorum compared a system designed to keep one group in peonage based upon race to cheap health insurance?

          6. So Santorum compared a system designed to keep one group in peonage based upon race to cheap health insurance?

No, but you do keep providing example after example of your lack of reading comprehension.

        2. You’re a bald-faced liar. Rush and others are not always on about contraceptives. That was never a topic of the 2012 political race until George Stephenopolis (sp) (former Clinton administration member pretending to be a journalist) raised it at one of the Republican debates. No one gives a damn about contraceptives. We just resist the idea that contraceptives should be the only medication that’s “free” with no co-pay. People pay co-pays for heart medicines but paying $7 a month for birth control pills is too much? Please. Don’t be such a f**king idiot.

          1. We just resist the idea that contraceptives should be the only medication that’s “free” with no co-pay

FWIW, it isn’t. Vaccines and aspirin are free as well, along with medication given as part of a preventative health procedure (e.g. the anesthesia you get when you have a colonoscopy).

          2. “FWIW”

            It isn’t worth much.

Providing free contraceptives certainly isn’t a good trade off for what Obamacare does to our medical system and the economy. There were already many places to get cheap or free contraceptives. Planned Parenthood was one such place. Now that the government deems it free, places like PP get more money from the government. Which is a large part about what Obamacare is about.

Obama was serious when he said punish our enemies and reward our friends. Obamacare directs a lot of money to Democrat activist groups like PP and don’t forget all those navigator groups that received hundreds of millions. Special privileges and funding for Democrat front groups. Sort of like the IRS giving preferential treatment to Democrat groups while attacking groups from other parties.

Just last week the IRS went after a cancer patient and his broker who complained on national TV about Obamacare. Meanwhile, Obama is giving waivers to his cronies and special tax breaks to unions.

          3. “We just resist the idea that contraceptives should be the only medication that’s “free” with no co-pay.”

Just keep on keeping on, then.

          4. “Just keep on keeping on, then.”

You run into problems when the status quo under the old system was better than the implemented alternative.

You do realize that free contraceptives is just a way to appeal to a voting demographic right? There isn’t “science” backing up this decision. It isn’t health care, it’s politics and this is what happens when the government is put in charge of dictating health care.

Obamacare isn’t egalitarian. It even segregates poor from rich by restricting doctor choice. Rather convenient that the people who forced this on us wont have to suffer the same quality of care or rub shoulders with the working class in the waiting room. And that is the point of it. Special treatment for politically connected, the wealthy, and desirable voting blocks while limiting the health care everyone else gets.

Obama was serious when he said he wanted to punish his enemies and reward his friends.

          5. PP shouldn’t get any government money. Democrats always want to funnel tax payer money to their pet activist groups. The government shouldn’t fund the Democrat party.

  4. “Hey, let’s start another discussion that will divert attention from the truth contained in this satire! Anything to help me avoid facing the rotten coercion-based roots of my irrational beliefs!”–Bob-1, “Massa” of the Sidetrack.

“All this talk about forcing some people to pay for other people’s medical care! It’s like threatening people is a BAD thing!”–Massa dn-guy
