Chupacabra!

They’ve found one.

Well, not really. It’s a hairless raccoon. As she notes, dogs don’t eat with their hands. And the guy who thinks that coons don’t growl apparently doesn’t have much experience with them. We saw one on the island in Fort Lauderdale a few years ago, at night, with a big crowd of viewers of the holiday boat parade. It was a spooky-looking creature.

  1. A lot of the pictures I’ve seen of purported chupacabras look very similar to the Xoloitzcuintli, or Mexican hairless dog (xolo, pronounced like “sholo”, for short).

  2. The chupacabra is supposed to look like the alien in “Species” (1995), who was played by Natasha Henstridge, complete with upright posture and big spines down the alien’s back. The original citing occurred in Puerto Rico right after the claimant had been watching that movie.

I stumbled across a video of another small animal that eats with its hands, makes odd noises, and which also bears an amazing resemblance to Don King. We need to come up with a name for it.

  3. Ummm, the “expert” thinks this is some kind of canine? A canine that eats with its paws?!?!?!
The people who trapped it think it’s a chupacabra?

I think the lot of them need a clue stick. A BIG one. What terrifies me is these are the kind of people that voter turnout drives get to the polls to vote. I don’t care who they vote for; having idiots vote is awful for democracy, because democracy is predicated on an *informed* electorate.

I see racoons around my property all the time (rural, mountainous area). They do indeed growl if under stress.
