  1. The pendulum has (IMNSHO) swung far enough that the math and science classes in today’s classrooms (at least, -my- kids classrooms) are approaching “English and history classes focussing on the history and current events of math and science.”.

AKA “How to skew grading on a gender-centric basis by merely redefining the goals”.

  2. Who decided some decades ago that men and women had to be exactly the same? And, why was the male paradigm considered the superior one to which to aspire?

    1. The sad thing Bart; someone will read your comment and believe you are the chauvinist without pondering the questions for more than a second.

    2. The left.

Their entire philosophy is based on ‘But we’re all EXACTLY THE SAME!’. That’s the only way they can justify stealing from the productive to give to the unproductive; they’re not unproductive because they’re different to the productive, just unlucky.

This is why ‘Womyn in Engineering’ is an existential issue to them. Though apparently ‘Boys in Biology’ is not.

      1. So, basically, you’re a bro-denier.

Often I feel discouraged to participate in male dominated activities because the testosterone in the room is too much for me. I can’t imagine how much worse it must be for women.

If we stop telling young men it’s okay to skip shaving, not use deodorant and talk to each other like they’re at a strip club or something, we’ll not only get more women in STEM fields, it’ll make the experience more palatable for us men who had parents that taught us right.

  3. When you are a tabula rasist, you just can’t admit that many young women are simply not interested in science and engineering.

On a side note, I went to a digital music composition meeting. There were about 45 men and one woman. I wonder if there is sexism in music composition. I doubt any of us had a music degree.

  4. When I was young the boys were discouraged from academic achievement but it was expected of the girls. The guys could goof off all day long, do horribly on quizzes and assignments and no-one did a thing. If one of the girls expressed disinterest in the boring standardized coursework their parents would get called.

Of course, I grew up in a dairy town in Australia, and the only thing boys couldn’t express disinterest in without reprimand was football and cricket.
