  1. It’s bizarre and, I think, fundamentally misguided to pursue a model of different legal fiefdoms when it comes to certain categories of crime. The federal/state/local criminal justice system should be THE authority when it comes to investigating and prosecuting crimes of a serious nature such as sexual assault and sexual violence. Colleges and Universities can concentrate on raising awareness, instilling a respect for consent and wariness for dangerous situations as well as provide ancillary support services such as support groups, counseling, and so forth. But they should absolutely not be in the business of taking over for the police or the DA for such serious criminal issues. When a rape occurs or is alleged the criminal justice system should be the overriding authority and the primary means of seeking justice.

    1. But following actual legal procedures would mean that the university couldn’t follow it’s mission, which is to punish men for perceived injustices for the past several millennia.

  2. If the one in five college woman being sexually assaulted statistic were even remotely true, what parent would allow their daughter to attend college? She’d have better odds in a war zone or perhaps Chicago. Since women already outnumber men by a substantial margin on many college campuses, if they start scaring women away, the schools are going to be hurting. On the other hand, given that any woman can make an accusation against any man at any time, and that men are considered guilty until they prove their innocence, and that their ability to confront their accuser is limited, what parent would let their son attend college? Perhaps if young men went on a college strike for a year, some of this nonsense would end. Or, if they go to college, refuse to have anything to do with any of the women at the school they attend.

  3. Why is it disappointing that Rubio is supporting this nonsense?

The bill is typical; a bunch of bureaucratic claptrap that won’t actually help the problem, but will help a lot of lawyers line their pockets, as well as send more innocent people to jail.

It’s just the sort of nonsense Rubio loves, and I’d have been stunned if he hadn’t supported it. I’m not disappointing Rubio sponsored this; I’m glad the backstabbing jackass is showing his true colors again; better to let voters see what he’s about than keep ’em in the dark.

  4. It would be great if progressives treated Universities like Corporations. Imagine a Corporation getting to power to rule on rape.

    1. Leland, that’s a beautiful analogy, because it shows the absurdity and hypocrisy of their position perfectly. Thanks.
