But, you see, they don’t. Progressivism: A morally bankrupt ideology, followed by morally bankrupt people.
Ever since the Left decided back in the Twenties that “socialism” was too hard a sell, and decided to repackage their authoritarianism under the warmer, fuzzier label of “liberalism,” those going by the name of “liberals” (by which I mean of course “tax-happy, coercion-addicted, power-tripping State-humpers”) have been either in denial or deliberately obfuscating what they really believe and what their real agenda is.
