The Obstruction Of Justice At Justice

It was the administration that hacked Sharyl Atkisson’s computer:

How’s that grab you, champions of the fourth estate? The White House teamed up with the Attorney General to take out a troublesome reporter and gin up some dirty coverage for congressional investigators. A patently bogus claim of executive privilege was used to keep politically-damaging documents under wraps until the President was safely beyond the reach of irate voters. You’d have been totally cool with Richard Nixon doing something like this, right?

Sure, if he’d been a Democrat.

  1. No, the document does not say anybody hacked Atkisson’s computer. It does say that the Attorney General was going to do something Attorney Generals have been doing since they installed telephones at Justice, namely call somebody’s boss because they got bad press. (Before then, they sent telegrams and letters.)

I don’t think Atkisson’s PC was hacked – the “unstoppable backspace key” shown in the video was probably a crumb stuck inside a key. A hacker would have just deleted everything without her even knowing about it.

    1. “I don’t think Atkisson’s PC was hacked ”

CBS does. How many investigations need to be completed before you will believe any of them?

Did you examine the computer? This was just one piece of evidence, there were others, like top secret files being placed on the hard drive. There was a deliberate campaign from the Obama administration to intimidate this and other reporters. Letting someone know that their home isn’t safe, that their computer isn’t safe, is intimidation. This is the type of stuff the KGB used to do to dissidents.

Well if it was a grainy photo from ABC, Gerrib would believe the police and medics lied about Zimmerman’s injuries. If was NBC, Gerrib would believe there audio clip. But this is CBS, and since they fired Mr. Fake but Accurate, Gerrib doesn’t seem to trust them.

Huh? The linked article does not even mention Atkinson’s computer.

      1. Atkisson famously couldn’t tell a stuck delete key from a computer hack, and reported anti-vaccine propaganda as science. You seem to be as credulous as she is, when the story fits your preconceptions.

        1. “Atkisson famously couldn’t tell a stuck delete key”

So Rand isn’t allowed to conclude that the Obama administration hacked the computer but you are allowed to conclude it was a stuck key based on zero evidence?

  3. >I don’t think Atkisson’s PC was hacked – the “unstoppable backspace key” shown in the video was probably a crumb stuck inside a key. A hacker would have just deleted everything without her even knowing about it.<

you are a effin' totalitarian hack.

  4. Yes, this shows the efforts the administration takes to intimidate and silence reporters but people are overlooking the other thing mentioned.

“Schultz also detailed to Schmaler that he was working with a journalist (Susan Davis, formerly of the National Journal) to target Rep. Darryl Issa (R-CA), the House Republican leading the charge on Fast and Furious:

“And I sent NJ’s Susan Davis your way. She’s writing on Issa/FandF and I said you could load her up on the leaks, etc.””

The administration is colluding with Democrats in the media to attack people on Obama’s enemies list. Do any of these reporters disclose who they are working for? What other journolists are working for the Obama administration? I can think of a couple other countries with state run “news” and none of them are very nice.

    1. Indeed. We are supposed to believe that nobody would use the government to attack their enemies, yet here is an email showing just that type of collusion. Obama said he would prosecute leakers. Well here is evidence of a leaker.

  5. It may be too soon to say with certainty that Attkisson’s computer was hacked, but it is crystal clear the media would have left Nixon alone if he’d been a Democrat.

And, had Nixon been a Democrat and not been white, the Democrats would have said that any Watergate allegations and coverage were racist.

    1. Woodward and Bernstein don’t seem to object to investigating Democrats:

“That is a real issue. Some people should move to Cincinnati and get hotel rooms and say ‘we’re going to talk to everyone who worked in that division at the IRS,” said Woodward.

Bernstein added that Democrats and Republicans should be doing a real investigation into the scandal as happened during Watergate, as opposed to Republicans trying to score political points and Democrats ignoring the situation altogether.

The press is happy to find scandals no matter what party is in power, and plenty of journalists have dug for dirt on the Obama administration. But I can’t think of any high-level Obama officials losing their jobs as a result; instead some journalists who’ve gotten ahead of the facts have seen their careers set back (e.g. the CBS staff who were put on leave because of errors in their Benghazi coverage).

Think of all the thousands of hours of Benghazi coverage that has aired on Fox News. And now the House GOP Intelligence committee reports that there was no crime, no coverup, no scandal at all. The problem isn’t that the media refuses to investigate Democrats, it’s that the rightist media is determined to running scandal stories whether there’s a scandal or not.
