3. Word is that they were so put off by Douglas Messier’s muckracking that they chose Long Beach over Mojave.

   1. All he’s been doing is pointing out their flaws & frequently over-optimistic assumptions. His sources/reportage are more accurate than Virgin’s front office more often than not.

      I will not claim that the man is without flaw. For example, he (along with many others) jumped to an incorrect conclusion after the crash. He has at least admitted his mistakes when he makes them.

      If that makes him a muckraker, I for one wish we had more such.

   2. To put it mildly, that sounds far-fetched, or are you making a joke? If there was anything other than the finances involved, tell us about it credibly.

   3. Maybe they discovered that it is easier to find top-notch people who are willing to move to the South Bay than the Antelope Valley… :-/

      (Some years ago, I was in a discussion about what it would take for each of us to move from coastal SoCal to the AV. A salary bump of about 2.5x was the median value.)

         1. Though, technically, Long Beach isn’t the South Bay. It’s not a bad commute from there, but a lot of people who would work there could also live in Orange County.

      2. Not just the Antelope Valley, but eastern Kern County, at least twenty-five miles from anything resembling a city.
