    1. Well, define “right-wing”. I would call it something like a traditionalist allegiance to church, the family, the state (still maintaining respect to private property), and business. The fascists were in favor of all of those things, the only difference with ‘conservatives’ was the means of getting there. The fascists are willing to adopt radical (actually, reactionary) means of getting there, and the conservatives aren’t.

People on this website want to maintain that “right-wing” means that the constituents are “anti-government”. That isn’t the meaning that any political scientist solely ascribes to the term.

      1. “I would call it something like a traditionalist allegiance to church, the family, the state (still maintaining respect to private property), and business.”

All of those things belong in many different ideologies that span both the right and the left.

  1. How does the idea that people must enthusiastically support higher taxes on themselves and others as your patriotic duty rank on the fascism scale?

    1. I know one thing for sure. No state can support itself without a source of income. i.e. taxes.

      1. TEA party stands for Taxed Enough Already, not “no taxes”. The original tea party in Boston wasn’t about abolishing all taxes, but a protest about additional and unnecessary taxes.

    2. I’m curious where support for eugenics fits on the scale, for example the Carnegie Institute, Margaret Sanger, or WEB Du Bois as well the KKK and Fascist. Eugenics is not the study of wanting to keep things the same.

    3. How does the idea that people must enthusiastically support higher taxes on themselves and others as your patriotic duty rank on the fascism scale?

Not at all. None of those things have anything to do with fascism. Unless you think all of Scandinavia is fascist.

      1. “Fascism, according to Merriam-Webster, is a political philosophy “that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader.””

You don’t want higher taxes? Don’t you love your country? Show your dedication not just by paying your taxes but by always demanding more taxation. That sounds kinda fascist and the dictatorial part is in their too according to pens and phones.

        1. Who are these right wingers seeking a centralized autocratic government?

On another note, I read an article at a “right wing” website that noted the status quo of debt spending and unsustainable welfare needs to change. How is that wanting things to stay the same?

        2. “We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people. It’s time to be patriotic … time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.” – Joe Biden, Fascist

          1. As I’ve said before, if the term “right wing” can include Ayn Rand, Murray Rothbard and Robert LeFevre (the latter having been the most consistent pacifist who ever lived*) along with the KKK and the Nazis, it has become meaningless.

And since it originated in the French Parliament, where the people sitting in the Right Wing were the pro-establishment authoritarian crowd, if the term “right wing” did have any usefulness these days, it would have to apply to “liberals.”

*as opposed to phony “liberal” pacifists who are squeamish about force used to defend against aggression, while getting their jollies advocating aggressive force and making heroes of mass murderers such as Che and Ho.
