  1. Practical post modernism 101. Generating new victim classes while using people’s best instincts against them. Reminds me of this quote between Toohey and Wynand in the Fountainhead as Toohey takes over editorial control of the paper:

“So you were after power, Mr. Wynand and you thought you were a practical man. You left to impractical intellectuals like me the whole field of ideas to corrupt as we please while you were busy making money. You thought money was power. Is it, Mr. Wynand?”

    = gender studies, sociology, history, philosophy . . .

  2. I thought I was an extrovert, but testing over the years has consistently classified me an introvert, who da thunk?

Probably I should care more about what people think, but I figure it’s just their loss.

Wanting special privileges… just shaddup about it. Life ain’t fair. Get over it. I was supposed to be rich and handsome (that’s what kenneth means.)

  3. Yeah, that’s not introversion. That’s a whole host of psychoses. Closing your eyes and literally running away from crowds of people? Wow.

  4. I’m an introvert. I enjoy solitary hobbies, and after spending a day among many people at work, I recharge by spending a little time at a hobby. The people described in that article aren’t just introverts; as Matt B says, they have crippling issues.

  5. Oh. My. God.

I hope Taylor gets his movie done some day, the one based on the story about everyone being ‘handicapped’ to make everyone equal. If you walk faster you get leg weights, if you are smarter you get earphones with distracting noises.

People are not all equal. They should get over it and find out what they can do and do that to the best of their abilities. And if they want to hobble me in anyway, they can eff off and die.

    1. And if you have good eyesight you get glasses to make it bad…etc.
Wasn’t the story Vonnegut’s “Harrison Bergeron?”

PBS (or its predecessor) did an amalgam of a bunch of Vonnegut stories, including that one, in a special show circa 1970. I recall that Bob and Ray (anyone else remember them?) were part of the “framing” story aping Cronkite and Wally Schirra.

An astronaut encounters Vonnegut’s “Trans [something] Infandibulum” and ends up traveling through (or at least seeing) these stories enacted. Very low budget, but damn, the part with the “Handicapper General” sticks in my mind. Near the end of that sequence ballet performers rebel and throw off their weights and chains…

Darn, and here I was fighting anxiety all these years when I could have just filed a class action suit.

      1. Interestingly enough, the current season opening for My Little Pony (I know, I know…) was a amalgam of Harrison Bergeron and 1984 (One song includes the line “You can’t have a nightmare if you never dream”. They had Room 101. “Some pigsponies are more equal than others” was mentioned. On ‘a cartoon for little girls’.)

  6. These people…members of the Society for Perpetual Victimhood…do not understand the raw naked power of self-fulfillment. They seem to rely on acquiring status by having it confirmed upon them by others.

Which, of course, means that they gave away all their power to those others.

  7. They seem to rely on acquiring status by having it confirmed upon them by others.

Having something given to you is less work than earning it for yourself.

  8. As an introvert myself, I’ll readily acknowledge that extroverts have a social advantage.

    So what?

  9. Katherine Timpf is an enormously entertaining writer, and is on top of all of this crap. Plus, she’s really hot. Just sayin’…
