  1. I was fascinated by Bernie Sanders’ claim that Open Borders is a “right-wing idea”, because it provides cheap labor and makes the poor poorer. True, but I don’t see the right wing supporting it for that reason, or the left wing opposing it. I guess he is using “right-wing” as a euphemism for “bad” so that his listeners can listen.
His interviewer was flummoxed as well.

  2. Actually, I think many are going off the deep end on this particular aspect of Sanders. The fact of the matter is he’s mostly right on this one; there is a huge push by the GOP establishment at the behest of big money donors for open borders (de facto if not de jure). And Sanders is thus a lot closer to being right on this issue than much of the Republican field.

I feel like I’m defending the devil here (I utterly despise socialists of any flavor) but it galls me to see the reprehensible bastard being slammed for the one, and perhaps only, issue he’s largely got it right on.

    1. While there are a lot of folks in the GOP who are pushing open borders for the reasons you identify, there are just as many on the Left in the Identity wing who are pushing for their own ideological reasons. Both sides have their hands dirty on this…

      1. @f1b0nacc1

I totally agree on both sides having their hands dirty. There’s also an element on the left that wants mass immigration plus citizenship for electoral reasons; they tend to vote D in large numbers. That’s why it’s “citizenship or nothing!” for some of the left.

  3. Ah! On that angle, I fully approve.

To be honest, I view anyone who supports a socialist exactly the same as anyone who supports a NAZI, so the support Sanders is getting appalls me.

    1. I view anyone who supports a socialist exactly the same as anyone who supports a NAZI

Who knew that all of Europe, and many more countries in the world, are living under nazi dictatorships. Shouldn’t you guys be calling for the US to declare war on the rest of the world in the interest of liberating them from their tyranny of nazi governments?

      1. “Who knew that all of Europe, and many more countries in the world, are living under nazi dictatorships. Shouldn’t you guys be calling for the US to declare war on the rest of the world in the interest of liberating them from their tyranny of nazi governments?”

        Great straw man, Dave!

        1. Yes, seriously, Dave.

You have clearly demonstrated yourself to be a complete idiot. The only question at this point, is just how deep do you want to dig the hole?

          1. Explain why it’s a strawman? It’s the logical conclusion of your own rhetoric. All socialists are nazis. There are many socialist governments in the world. Therefore there are many nazi governments in the world. Or are you suddenly embracing nuance in your world view? Is the socialist/nazi government of Sweden to be excused in some way?

          2. All socialists are nazis.

I’m sorry you are so unable to follow an argument, and like your Savior in Washington, have nothing to offer but straw men. Apparently it is a waste of time to discuss anything with you.

          3. I view anyone who supports a socialist exactly the same as anyone who supports a NAZI

He is equating socialist supporters with Nazi supporters. Dave’s error is assuming that supporter of X = X. Leading Democrats in the Reagan-era Congress supported the Sandinistas, but that didn’t make them Sandinistas, or even Communists – that made them useful idiots to the Commies. Still, it’s not fair to say that the two sets of followers are exactly alike – it would be better to say they share strong parallels, such as the tendency to view conflicts through the prism of class warfare, and their gullibility over emotional “arguments.”

          4. Arizona CJ said “To be honest, I view anyone who supports a socialist exactly the same as anyone who supports a NAZI…”

The citizens of Israel (and most of Europe) have elected politicians who support policies which are more socialistic than Senator Sanders, so it follow that Arizona CJ would view them “exactly the same as anyone who supports a NAZI.”

Once Arizona CJ compares the socialistic positions of the Israeli (and European) electorate and Israeli (and European) elected politicians to Senator Sanders, why is it a straw man for Dave to suggest that Arizona CJ would consider Israel (and Europe) to be subject to a Nazi dictatorship?

          5. Alan, I posted before I saw your comment or I would have directed my comment to you. Alan, that was a good comment, but Arizona CJ made his comment in the context of an election, and so I think you’re using “support” differently from how Arizona CJ appeared to be using it. If a US voter supports a Nazi to be the president of the United States, I think it is fair to call that voter a Nazi, and suggest that the voter wants a Nazi dictatorship. In socialist countries such as most of Europe and Israel, voters have “supported” socialist politicians for a long time now, so that they could continue to live in socialist countries. I think it is reasonable to expect Arizona CJ to view such voters and their contries “exactly” the way he would view Nazi voters who wanted to live in Nazi countries. I’m sure Arizona CJ doesn’t really feel this way, but it isn’t a strawman to take him at his word, even if he was just getting carried away with his dislike of socialists.

The Democrats in the 1980s didn’t want the Sandistas to have political power in the USA, whereas Sanders’ supporters want him to be the US President.

          6. Alan, I respectfully suggest you re-read the entirety of Dave’s comment. While I get the A=B and B=C therefore A=C concept, Dave went on to claim A=Z. It is a strawman reductio ad absurdum argument to claim that because one distrusts a socialist as they would a Nazi, that one must therefore declare war on Europe. It is the same stupid argument that leads to “if you don’t support the Iranian Deal, then you want war!” I don’t think you would accept that argument, Alan.

      2. Poor Dave, leftism is a mental illness that mainly destroys their perspective abilities. When the new Nazis begin blitzkrieg against their neighbors, what do you suppose Dave?

        1. When the new Nazis begin blitzkrieg against their neighbors, what do you suppose Dave?

You speak in generalities, I speak in specifics. Which nazis are you talking about? If you mean I should be concerned about our social-minded Canadian neighbors to the north, who must be nazis by the definition of this thread, I “suppose” I will spend no time at all thinking about that problem. So please define for me which “nazis” I should be concerned about, aside from fantasy nazis like Bernie Sanders.

          1. Dave, I can’t replay above due to thread limits, so I’ll do so here.

I said I consider supporters of socialists the same as supporters of Nazis. I said nothing about going to war on them – that was all your straw-man.

There’s a Nazi party in America. I don’t favor banning it, or going to war on it, or restricting its right to freedom of speech. Doesn’t mean I don’t consider them scum of the earth, though.

I consider supporters of the American Nazi party (Or the German version of the 30’s and 40’s) and supporters of other types of socialists to be essentially the same; they support slightly different flavors of the venomous doctrine of Marx. A doctrine that, BTW, includes the top 3 mass murders in human history (Mao, Stalin, and Hitler), good socialists all.

          2. Sweden, specifically, while under their socialists passed racial purity laws post WWII that remained in effect through the 1980s.
They sterilized the ‘unfit’ such as populations of people who were of other than the dominant Swedish racial type. Sounds rather Nazi-like to me. Goggle “Swedish Travelers”.

  4. “Liberal” State fellators like Dave always get their pink panties in a bunch when the socialist roots of Nazism and fascism are brought up. I suspect it makes them uncomfortable to see they have so much in common with the people they have always seen (with the help of a lot of Denial and Projection) as their arch-enemies.

Craig: They say there’s a little of the Jew in all of us.

Bergman: Ja. Und a little bit of the Nazi.
