  1. Keir Dullea was a science fiction fan even before he made 2001:A Space Odyssey; he realized when he read the script that he had read Clarke’s The Sentinel many years earlier. Leslie Nielsen was also a fan and enthusiastically took the leading role in Forbidden Planet. Tim Allen is also a fan and reader. I’ve even heard rumors that Cary Grant was a science fiction fan.

    1. Speaking of 2001, if you are at all a fan, pick up the new book The Making of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, by Piers Bizony, published by Taschen, $50 hardback in a cool slipcase, on Amazon. An extraordinary wealth of material, utterly fascinating for any Kubrick fan in general or 2001 fan in specific, and beautifully done.

  2. You’re linking to Sailer now? Good on ya, mate!

But be prepared for the inevitable commenters that scream at you for joining forces with the racists 🙂

  3. Que? Not one interview, not one quote from an actor saying he liked SF before starring in SF films, just a lot of “gee, this guy sure makes a lot of SF films”.

Want to know who the real SF fans in Hollywood are? Look to see who fights to get a SF movie made. Actors take the jobs they are offered. Directors and Producers are the guys who see to it that the movie gets made at all.
