  1. Somethign happened to Piers. When he was with MSNBC(?) he sounded like a rabid lefty.

Once he left there, he’s changed his stripes.

I’ve always wondered how much a commentators on-air view is forced by the fact that he wants the paycheck.

    1. I don’t think he has changed his stripes.

He is not saying, from his perspective, that it is a good thing that Mr. Trump won. He is trying to rally his troops to pull themselves together so they can win next time.

It is like that British Airways Jumbo Jet that flew at night through the unseen stratospheric plume of the Indonesian volcano. As the plane was plummeting towards the ocean (they did eventually restart the engines), an elderly woman scolded her panicked fellow passengers, “We’re British! Pull yourselves together!”

That culture has the expression “stiff upper lip.” I think this is the “British” in Mr. Morgan, not a right-wing epiphany. But maybe this is straying over to the Right to uphold a traditional Anglo cultural value?

    1. So if Santa got fired, are you saying that the actor from “Hamilton” who “spoke truth to power” about “saving the planet” should get fired? Where will this end?

      1. Huh? I mean it literally: I don’t like the idea of space spaces for the general adult population (including college students), and I think Trump picked up the terminology and presumably the concept from listening to young proponents of safe spaces.

Apologies if the phrase “darn kids” threw you off — I can’t help but feel there is something laughable about old people complaining about young people, even if I’m in agreement with the oldsters now that I’m one of them.

Trump could have been reassuring by simply agreeing with much of what the Hamilton actor said, since the actor’s words were generic enough to fit in with Trump’s campaign speeches. Instead, Trump called for a criticism-free safe space. If Trump continues to misunderstand the value of free speech the way Millennials so often do, it will be worse than “sad!”.

          1. I would be grateful if you would spell it out for me. Do you think Trump was being sarcastic? I’m sure Paul was being sarcastic, but I think he didn’t know my take on safe spaces.

          2. I think Trump was being sarcastic. Given how in tune he has been with the anti-pc crowd, that seems quite likely.

    1. Did they convince Trump about “safe spaces” in the pc version or is he simply saying to do your job and shut up. Nobody paid the actor to spout his opinion. If I go to a show, I don’t want an actor acting like a drama queen.
