The Cold Civil War

Kurt Schichter is afraid it’s about to get hot. But there is this difference:

Sally Kohn, a CNN commentator perfectly personifies the left’s combination of utter cluelessness and utter certainty in its own moral superiority. Drawing from her bottomless well of stupidity, she recently became infamous for wishcasting about what happens “[s]traight forward from here.” Her scenario starts with Step 1 (“Impeach Trump & Pence”) and ends with Step 6 (“President Hillary”), thanks to a Constitutional process she created herself by blending ignorance, fascism, and wanting.

Sally, however, overlooked Step 2.5, where several dozen million Americans defend the Constitution by taking out their black rifles and saying, “Oh, hell no.” I assume the patriots determined to protect the Union would be confronted, for a short and awkward time, by a pro-coup hipster army locked and loaded with vinyl LPs, participation trophies and unearned self-regard.

There’s no reason not to believe that for these seditious Democrats, the second time will be the charm.

Democrats always get angry and violent when Republicans threaten to emancipate their slaves.

  1. Judging by the Democrat party organized violence, it is already hot. Whether or not it will escalate into bombings, assassinations, or paramilitary style attacks is yet to be seen.

Democrats are used to trying to provoke responses from people paid to take the abuse. It is part of a coordinated political theatre where Democrat politicians hang the cops out there to get abused by constituents unhappy with Democrat policies. They let the rage beat against the walls of riot shields and if cops get hospitalized, it’s no big deal.

But now Democrats are using these militant tactics against civilians that are not paid to take the abuse. People have the right to defend themselves and they will, especially when Democrat politicians order their police forces to stand down when Democrat militants terrorize the populace with violence.

  2. In “Starship Troopers”, Heinlein postulated a society where only people who had performed government service were allowed to vote. He wasn’t necessarily advocating such an idea, just using it as the basis for his possible future society. How would such a society come to power? What would it take to make those kinds of societal changes? Perhaps, if there were a new civil war, we’ll find out. Those deplorable racist, bigoted, homophobes out in flyover country are more likely to be veterans and they’re much more likely to be armed (and know how to use guns) than their liberal urban counterparts. The liberals may dream of a civil war but reality suggests it would not end well for them.

  3. Even if Trump was impeached it doesn’t mean Hillary would be elected though. Fact is a lot of Democrats didn’t like the way the Conservatives pushed for Bill Clinton’s impeachment back when it happened, or how they won the popular vote to lose the electoral college twice already with both Al Gore and now Hillary Clinton, so it may be a bit of revanchist politics to propose an impeachment now.
Still doesn’t mean she would be elected.

    1. Sally Kohn is a moron. Remove Trump, Pence is president. Remove Pence before he selects a new vice-president, and Orrin Hatch is president. Remove Hatch before he’s selected a new VP, and Paul Ryan is president…

I find it conceivable that Trump could be impeached and removed, but nothing beyond that, and there is no path to a Hillary presidency by doing so.

  4. “Just reflect on the low-grade insurgency the American left undertook in the 1970s, with more bloodshed than most people remember…”

I remember it vividly. It came to a climax in the first days of May, 1970. When “students” rioted in Kent, Ohio, they smashed store front and bank windows, and burned down the ROTC building at Kent State University, National Guard troops were brought in. During a confrontation between 77 guardsmen and 2,000 rock-and-tear-gas-canister-throwing protesters on May 4th, guardsmen opened fire, killing four and wounding nine.

There was a stunned period of national shock and grief following this incident. The Christian Science Monitor ran an editorial cartoon on showing a guardsman cradling the body of a dead student, with the caption “But these are our children!”

Oddly, the “children” pretty much abandoned their destructive rampages after that. At least, their overtly destructive rampages. The Left soon adopted the environmental movement as a way to destroy civilization in a more fashionable way…
