  1. The problem I see with the study is that after only a few hours, the cats probably weren’t that hungry. If they’d been left without food or other stimulus for, say, 12 hours, I would be willing to bet their first order of business would have been food.

  2. Our cats nap together, share the feeding station, and play together whenever the neutered male — youngest of the three — can get one of the spayed females to go along, but for pure pleasant interaction that goes on for more than a few minutes they come to the humans.

    On the other hand, the male comes to me all lovey-dovey most reliably when the feeding station needs replenishing…
