  1. …and as long as it’s consensual, it should be legal.

It’s the consensual part that is always the sticking point for cheerleaders. There were a lot of scandals in the ’50s and ’60s where it was discovered that the cheerleading squads were being run as perks to the sports teams. These scandals eventually led to strict non-fraternization rules. There might be a similar dynamic working in this case. Are the cheerleaders free agents or are they being coerced?

        1. They get paid, just not much. This 2014 story gives some examples:

“San Diego Chargers cheerleaders get $75 for each home game, along with two game tickets and one parking pass. The Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders make $100 for each of 10 (mandatory) performances at home games. That includes showing up five hours before the game starts, practicing twice a week for three hours from April through January, and participating in a “training camp” each June.”

  2. I blame the university. If tuition were not too damn high the girls might not need to work at all. Who can blame them for using their most valuable assets?

  3. I fully support Carolina Coastal U’s crackdown. College cheerleaders should date men like us without any expectations of us paying for anything more than their wine coolers, or whatever panty remover they prefer.

I think us older men need to take a stand on this. A firm stand.

Is that the hill we want to die on? Well yeah, why not. There are a lot worse hills.
