  1. There is one. Entropy increases in a closed system. The universe is a closed system.

    1. What has to happen is an entropy decrease. Saying there are no physical laws that require an upper limit on age is like saying there are no physical laws that say my car can’t run forever without any maintenance.

Sooner or later, parts weaken. Conduits get clogged. Detritus builds up. What keeps us alive already as long as we typically live is a massive system of repair and rejuvenation. It just isn’t able to keep up with the general decay indefinitely.

But, there are therapies now that are beginning to target the maintenance shop, as it were. Revitalizing the immune system. Replenishing the repair mechanisms. Those hold out the best hope, IMO.

  2. Rand said “I say it’s ultimately just physics”

Well, are you an atheist or an agnostic? If you are an agnostic, then perhaps you shouldn’t think it is “ultimately just physics.” For example, you can’t know what God has in mind for the spark of divine light within your soul. 🙂
