The 537 elected politicians in DC are, for the most part, the “for show” government. The real government is the vast, unelected, and unaccountable bureaucracy. They are a power in and of themselves, effectively answerable to no one.
Which is both true and fixable if we demand it. I don’t see that demand happening sadly.
