  1. It’s a great example of Jevons paradox where more efficient use of a resource results in large enough increase in demand that more of the resource is consumed.

  2. That article was linked at Instapundit, and probably 90% of the comments were some variation on “What, are you against progress and prosperity?”

    Full-cutoff shielding seems like such a simple concept, but sometimes it’s like trying to teach organic chemistry to a dog.

    1. It’s about putting the light where you need it, not where you don’t.
      Which increases efficiency and avoids problems like glare.

  3. There’s a funny story about a new casino they built off hwy 40 here in AZ. What they overlooked is the signs to draw people off the hwy can be as bright as they like, except at night due to a pre-existing ordinance!
