  1. While Rand hopes that Antifa will kill off the Dems, and may be right, I am sitting across the Columbia River from a hotbed of them, in Portland. The problem is that the Dems don’t yet seem hurt too badly in Oregon by their association with and kindly treatment of these thugs. That *may* change with the coming elections. For now they seem funded and organized rather well, both the Dems and the thugs.

The thugs come and go up and down the I-5 corridor. I’ve met them from as far South as San Diego, and as far North as Bellingham. While they have invigorated comment in the metro area on their activities, we are seeing less response than I’d hoped. Simply put, the Dems have not been successfully challenged here in a long enough time that there is far less organization available to take advantage of the people being pissed off, and no mass media willing to show their “little foibles” to the general population.

The last big burst of large numbers of people here protesting the progressive corrosion of liberty was the 2009 April 15th TEA Party demo that overflowed Portland’s Pioneer Square for blocks around it. After that there were no more permits. We probably only got that one because our previous demo in February on a cold weekday had got only 75 people to it. After the Square was swamped with people for blocks around it, not only was there no chance of future permits, but local TEA Party groups were hit by the IRS blocking tactics as well.

Any group the thugs might attack is treated by the City of Portland as provocateurs, at best, and just looking for a fight at worst.

    1. If I’m reading the signs correctly, when things go hot with bat guano crazy democrats, I’m currently living on the sane side of the front lines, but not far from them. By my read the local front lines will be Sacramento city limits, the city siding with the democrats, the county sheriff being a force for sanity.

As bad as Portland is, I’m up river from what is probably the most intense center of democrat insanity in the country, San Francisco.

    2. The problem is that the Dems don’t yet seem hurt too badly in Oregon by their association with and kindly treatment of these thugs.

You are right there on the front lines.

Our local media refuses to say what ANTIFA actually is or how they conduct themselves.

A lot of people are blissfully unaware about ANTIFA because the media doesn’t accurately report on them. Many Democrats disagree with their tactics but will then parrot their talking points, defend their actions, and blame their victims.

  2. Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale, Geraldine Ferarro, Michael Dukakis, Lloyd Bentsen, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Joe Lieberman, John Kerry, John Edwards, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hilary Clinton, Tim Kaine.

The above citizens who were standard bearers for the Democratic Party are moderates, and they ran as moderates, and regardless of your hyperbole, they governed as moderates when elected to various offices.

Huge numbers of Americans voted for them. Sometimes it was the majority of Americans, sometimes it was only nearly the majority.

That huge number of Americans won’t vote for radicals, and that huge number of Americans will insist having a moderate voice in this democracy. So, I can’t even imagine what you are hoping for when you talk about hoping for the end of the Democratic party. But I know that the Americans who voted for the people listed above will continue to choose moderates.

    1. “Walter Mondale, Geraldine Ferarro, Al Gore, Barack Obama, , Hilary Clinton, Tim Kaine.”

The above citizens who were standard bearers for the Democratic Party are moderates, …..”

These were not moderates. They were substantially left of center. That’s one reason why Mondale and Hillary got crushed.
Obama is a marxist. That you think he is a moderate and governed as a moderate shows just how delusional you are.

“and they ran as moderates, and regardless of your hyperbole, they governed as moderates when elected to various offices.”

They ran as moderates (to some degree) because if they really said what they wanted to do they could not be elected dog catcher.

“Huge numbers of Americans voted for them.”

Huge numbers of Americans are (today) leftists. Mondale got crushed.

And I see you left out McGovern who was a serious leftist and who also got crushed.

“But I know that the Americans who voted for the people listed above will continue to choose moderates.”

That’s insane. The people who voted for Hillary are not out of the closet socialists. Haven’t you been reading the news?

I think your definition of “moderate” is fuzzy,

      1. Oops:

” The people who voted for Hillary are not out of the closet socialists.”

I meant to say… are NOW out of the closet socialists.

    2. Joe Lieberman was drummed out of the Democrat party for not being radical enough. Joe won his last election as an Independent. He was selected by Gore as a running mate, so the ticket would appear more moderate. But the Democrats rejected Joe as a standard bearer all the way back in 2006.

Besides Joe as a representative of the modern Democratic Party and the silly notion that Mondale/Dukakis/Edwards had huge vote numbers; do you have any other sweet lies to tell us?

    3. Dick Morris theorizes that when the dems lose, they go further left for awhile. This happened after Nixon and Reagan. Mondale and Dukakis were no moderates and it was one reason why the dems lost. It was only after Slick Willy went to the right did a dem get in office. Morris should know, he worked with Slick Willy and invented triangulation.

I will agree, however, that some of the dems on your list actually cared about this country.

      1. I forgot to add Carter after the Nixon election. And Carter probably only got elected because of Nixon’s scandals. He won in a landslide in 1972.

      2. No one had heard of Bill Clinton in 1990. If not for the self-important wackadoodle Ross Perot, Bill Clinton would now be an obscure divorced former Arkansas governor, his ex-wife would be an unknown local lawyer in Little Rock and Barack Obama would likely be a career backbencher in the Illinois state legislature. Much subsequent mischief would have been avoided.

    4. Obama wasn’t a moderate and Tim Kaine’s son was arrested with other ANTIFA beating people in the state capitol building. Obama even used the DOJ and other government resources to help these militant activist groups organize and “protest”.

Why didn’t we hear more about Obama using the federal government to persecute dissidents while at the same time using the federal government to spread hundreds of millions of dollars and grant special privileges to Democrat’s militant activist groups?

The same dark money web that funds PBS and the DNC also funds ANTIFA and other marxist groups.

  3. I wonder if the anti-fa fascists (yes…they are anti-fascist fascists – the irony is thick) who hide their faces think they are cool….like Isis hides their faces.

    1. We can see a couple trends from their mugshots. Most of them look like meth addicts and there are a lot of women who like to use violence. The idea that women would be better leaders because they are kinder and wouldn’t get us into wars is debunked by the ANTIFA mugshots.

  4. ANTIFA is the future of the Democrat party but it doesn’t signal the end but rather the ascendance of marxism. The marxists wont give up control and we can see other examples around the world of long lived marxist parties.

Marxism is never rejected until they gain power and then engage in atrocities and even then they are still able to retain a base of support.

  5. Antifa is made up of thugs, yes, but sanctimonious, smug, entitled thugs. Thugs who start whining and assuming soccer-player-writhing-on-the-ground poses when anyone fights back.

They are like the Faculty Senate with masks and tire irons. No, they are not “like” the Faculty Senate, they are the Faculty Senate. They are the “Provos” — military wing of the Faculty Senate.

Tire irons? No, not unless it is the tire iron out the compartment for what passes for a jack and a spare tire in a Prius. More likely their choice of a weapon is one of those U-shaped bike locks, for which a judge sentences them to probation for conking someone on the head with something that could kill. I guess that judge thought this adjunct faculty guy was such a wimp that he lacked the physical strength to deliver a lethal blow?
