Peter Jackson’s Restored WW I Footage

provides a contrast with today:

In the span of 100 years, Britain has gone from producing men who were so eager to fight and die for their country that 16-year-olds lied about their age to enlist when the minimum age was 19, to teaching primary school boys that they can have periods just like girls and offering feminine hygiene products in boys’ bathrooms. This phenomenon isn’t unique to the U.K. U.S. colleges, like the University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, and Brown University offer menstrual products in their men’s rooms, in the name of “menstrual equity” and as a sop to a miniscule “transgender” population.

We’re doomed.

  1. I wonder how doomed the UK is. It is hard to tell from their media since they suppress divergent point of views and portray a woke society but there wouldn’t be stories of punishments if everyone was woke. Brexit also shows that people whose existence the elite have tried to ignore in the hopes they die off without being heard, want to be heard.

These people don’t have power though and the ruling class in the UK is doing what they can to disappear them. But how much of the population is this?

The same is true in the USA except that we have more freedoms to fight back, or at least live how we want, for now. Social media, finance, website hosting, and educational institutions are doing their best to wipe out badthink and it is going to get a lot worse.

The future isn’t predetermined, its uncertain, and it is tough to say how we come out of this period of ascending marxist totalitarianism. There are still some in the UK with a stiff upper lip.

  2. One of Britain’s biggest problems is that it’s been exporting a large fraction of its smart and driven kids for decades because they don’t see any future in the country. The Brain Drain has been going on for about seventy years now, and we’re seeing the results.

And, of course, there was a huge genetic cull before that in WWI and WWII, which removed many of the men who would have fought for their country.

Another is that it was the Imperial Capital before America took the crown, so the Marxists infiltrated it earlier than they infiltrated America. They took over pretty much every institution there decades ago; even Thatcher couldn’t get them out of the schools.

As for doomed, probably not. We’re coming to the end of the cozy post-WWII compromise. Soyboys aren’t going to last long in a world where survival is non-trivial. They’ll either man up or die.

  3. My father served in the military. So did I and one of my brothers. Both of my sons served. Today, I would not encourage and might actively discourage any of my grandchildren from joining the military should they express an interest. Why should they risk their lives to protect a government that’s so corrupt. Fuck that. If the Swamp wants protection, let their kids serve.

    1. ‘Go woke, go broke.’

Soon as my blades run out, I’ll be finding another razor. I’m doing my best to avoid buying from big business these days, so it’s a good excuse to take another step in that direction.

      1. I have tried other blades, and they are like the iconic Frank Zappa album cover “weasels ripped my face.”

Like many things these days, I don’t remember where I read this, but making steel with the right properties for shaving is not a trivial undertaking. Right properties as in shaving doesn’t hurt or I don’t end up with my face sliced up.

Don’t know, but I think we are going to have to live with their ever higher prices (Gillette disposable razors have gotten expensive) and now this.

As to the cost of their razors, I read an article in Esquire Magazine (yes, I remember the source and it was multiple decades ago) about how to shave that your razors last longer. The author explained that if you attempt to shave un-wettened beard hairs, it is like running your razor over metal filings, wrecking its temper. You have to get your face really wet to soften your beard, and your razor will last a long time.

My biggest gripe with the current Gillette two-bladed razor is that it clogs up, and no amount of faucet water blast cleans it, and then I have to throw the razor away. You really have to rinse the razor well after use because once it dries, the clog between the two blades is stuck like cement.

        1. I said this the last time the subject came up and it’s still true. I’ve been using the same blade for almost 20 years and it still works as good as it did on day one. There was a period of time where it would grab at my skin but that turned out to be the strip of whatever they place in front of the blades. Once that was gone, everything was smooth.

Sometimes I use shaving cream, gel, or some kind of soap but I find them hardly better than warm water. That is until recently when I was introduced to Prince shaving cream. Just a dab and massage it in and the razor slides effortlessly. Feels great.

I hear dollar shave club is good too and I bet they got a bunch of new subscribers today.

        2. I shave in the shower, so my beard is always really wet and soft. I use Shick Hydro 5. They typically last 6 months per refill, and are wonderfully comfortable.

Aside from that, girls still like bad boys. Just sayin’.

        3. There’s Dollar Shave Club ( whic apparently resells Dorcos in a convenient package, which can be bought direct on Amazon too ) and there’s Harrys. Excellent value for money.
Schick Hydro is pretty good too, but as expensive as Gillette
