Lockdown

Is it inevitable, and soon? It’s a good idea to prepare, but I don’t think it will be necessary. In any event, unless we cancel tomorrow’s fumigation, we have to leave the house until Monday.

[Update later morning]

If this is true, it’s great news. The case-fatality rate may be only a tenth of a percent.

[Update mid-afternoon]

This is stupid. How do these people expect the needed goods to be moved with the war on truckers?

[Update Friday morning]

More on the trucker’s plight.

[Update a few minutes later]

I’d been needing a haircut, but put it off too long, I guess (I always procrastinate, because I hate getting haircuts). Other than the impact on the proprietors’ businesses, no one will suffer from not getting a tattoo, but hair grows.

  1. The deplorables are expected to keep the wheels turning so so the important people that write for national national media can hide out at home and have a proper selection of take out delivered.

I said elsewhere that truck drivers could easily decide to just park their trucks and wait it out. At worst, they’d have to lease another when they wanted to drive again. Trucker credit rating isn’t like the rest of the world.

Where I work we are dividing into two shifts with no contact between them. I asked what happens if somebody tests positive and got no answer. We supposedly have a couple of people suffering from something that might be the virus or six dozen other things. They aren’t about to be tested so who knows. Without going into detail, if we shut down, it’ll cause more than a ripple.

  2. Okay I am puzzled; would anyone care to explain why the state of Pennsylvania (and presumably other state guvs) is at war against Truckers? What are they doing this for?

    1. It’s the no brain decision for s stupid pol. I’m sure the people that normally do the cleaning would rather take the next 6 months off with pay. Not many of the truck drivers vote in Pennsylvania. It’s a lot easier to just shut something down than to keep it going.

They may have trouble finding truck drivers for deliveries in Pennsylvania. I suppose that’s what the National Guard is for.

As word gets around and I assure you it is, a lot of places will find it very hard to get service. The ones that work out something reasonable will have all they want.

The same thing is happening at sea. Ports are confining crews to their ships and not even allowing them to change crews.

      1. Word is getting around, which is why these nutcases are going on MSNBC squawking about how other regions are “hoarding supplies”. Nope, it is just you dipshits have made it difficult to get supplies to you. Natural selection is working even if our local politicians aren’t.

  3. The good news is PA decided to reopen the parking on some of their rest areas. No idea how truckers are supposed to get food, though.

  4. State-wide lockdowns are imbecilic.

Shutting ALL of California down is dopey

Shutting all of New York state down is unbelievably stupid.

    1. Imbecilic, dopey, stupid, and also dictatorial, are not merely tolerated features of bureaucrats, they are a job requirement.

When bureaucrats then do things that are imbecilic, dopey, stupid, and also dictatorial, it is “unexpectedly”.

The officials who shut down truck stops probably were unaware that trucks have cargo.

  5. As we were driving home from afternoon shopping, my wife broke the news to me: “All of the dentist offices are closing. Ours included. I hated to be the one to tell you, because I knew you were just about to make that appointment…”

I gave a groan and an “Oh, no!” that were the most convincing lies I could come up with on the spot.

  6. Politicians are herd animals. When one does something stupid or ineffectual, the rest have to follow along in order to not be seen “not doing anything”. Or better yet, do something even stupider to show how “proactive” they are.

We’re at the point where a dummy like Cuomo can make a “if one person is saved, it’s all worth it” statement and be considered compassionate and profound. These days of “feelz”, no politician wants to not be seen as compassionate and profound.

Similarly, none of them will consider rescinding these stupid orders until one of them breaks rank and gives the rest cover.

  7. Listened to that moron DeBlasio raging against Trump on Meet The Mess for not deploying the Army to NYC. WTF Bill never heard of the national guard? Why are you not raging against fellow traveler Gov. Coumo? I can only take this propaganda operation in small doses.
