Three reasons that McConnell is not being a hypocrite in his stance to vote on a Trump nominee.

Ginsburg was a politician in a robe, not a justice.

Unlike her, someone like Amy Coney Barrett will respect the Constitution.

This crock just makes me support her more.

    Yeah, sure right. Whatever.

  2. From your posted link:

    Bill Barr:

“Even the most well-meaning people can do great damage if they lose perspective. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, as they say. …I am reminded of a passage by C.S. Lewis:

“It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth.”

    1. Fernandez (whose writings I’ve loved from the very first one I read) using the raising-of-stakes analogy to the baccarat game between James Bond and Le Chiffre in Casino Royale really tickled me.

Part of that tickle was due to the fact that Le Chiffre faced the wrath of SMERSH in the event he lost. Today, the Democrats face the wrath of SCOTUS! That’s just perfect!

  3. “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday would not rule out impeachment as an option to stop President Trump’s U.S. Supreme Court pick from being confirmed to the bench, saying Democrats will “use every arrow in our quiver” to block the eventual nominee.”

During an interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Pelosi, D-Calif., was asked whether she and House Democrats would move to impeach the president, or Attorney General Bill Barr in an effort to prevent the Senate from acting.

“We have our options. We have arrows in our quiver that I’m not about to discuss right now, but the fact is we have a big challenge in our country,” Pelosi said. “This president has threatened to not even accept the results of the election”

In other words having now established the precedent that a sitting duly elected President can be impeached without breaking any laws the door is now open for this. Congress can Impeach the President at will for any action it disagrees with the legality of such action now rendered irrelevant.

  4. So why the hysteria over Ginsberg’s replacement? Democrats have already told us they’re gonna pack the Supreme Court if everything goes their way, and they’ve told us they expect everything to go their way. So Harris is gonna have at least two chances (hell, they’ll make it four while they’re at it) to pander to various constituencies.
