We bought a Vizio a few years ago when the price came down below $1000 for a 65″, for the Superbowl. But I’ve never given it my wifi password; it’s just a monitor fed by my other devices. This is why.

My stupid Panasonic 50″ plasma monitor with only 1K definition, I bought back in 2005, and has to be tuner/cable-box driven and hooked into my AV receiver/stereo, is looking better and better… I bought an HDMI card for it which I’ve never installed. RGB baby…

I went to a brand new candy store a couple of years ago, the kind where you scoop stuff into a bag and they weigh it at the counter and charge you by the pound.
The register asked for a tip for me doing literally all the work except handing me a receipt.
If I have any smart devices in my house they will be ones I create and will not connect to external AI tools.

There are all sorts of reasons not to hook your TV up to your wifi but the best one is that smart tvs tend to be sluggish
It is unfortunate that the large file sizes of most media these days means that you need a home server to stream around the house and some sort of remote desktop program to do it outside the house. You used to be able to just plug a thumb drive into a smart tv or firestick
