Apparently, Barack and Michelle Obama are going to quit their church, which has provided him so much spiritual nourishment over the years, and provided so much needed guidance to their young children in “black liberation theology.” Apparently, they only just discovered that people have been saying…ummmmmmmm…controversial, yes, that’s the word…controversial things from the pulpit there, to the cheers of the parishioners.

Many of us don’t like Bush either, but that doesn’t mean that we would have been happier if Kerry had won.
Bush isn’t on the ballot and the election won’t be between Sen McCain and perfection. It will be between Sen McCain and either Sen Clinton or Sen Obama.

Actually, that doesn’t matter to me at all, directly – I don’t live in the country that has that choice between evils, and the mess any of them will make of government doesn’t affect me at all. Directly.
Unfortunately, the elephant in the room is about to become either rabid (more so than it already is, that is to say) or arthritic. In other words, this poor choice affects an awful lot more people than those who get to vote.
When the dust has settled; maybe, just maybe, America ought to take a good long hard look at itself and find out why and how it got itself (and 5.7 billion others) into this mess.

I seem to recall back in 2004 the left-wing blogs were full of reasons to vote against Bush. Reasons to vote for Kerry – less so. I suspect that there’s a correlation between that and the election results.
I voted for Reagan in 1984 and Bush in 1988. The operant word there is “for.” If you want to appeal to swing voters, I submit that you need to give positve as well as negative reasons.

Who said I’m endorsing anyone for my readership? I’ve never endorsed a political candidate here. I’ve expressed some personal preferences, but I don’t think that constitutes an endorsement. I have a strong preference that Barack Obama not be the next president. I have a slightly less strong preference that Hillary Clinton not be the next president. I have no enthusiasm for McCain, and there’s much for me to be unhappy about the prospect of him as president as well.

I’m not trying to appeal to swing voters. I’m not trying to appeal to anyone. I’m just running a blog, at which I express my opinions. When I come up with something positive about John McCain, I’ll let people know. I’m sure there are some things, but I haven’t given it much thought. For me, the fact that he’s not Barack Obama will probably be enough, which is what he’s got to hope for. Sometimes (most of the time, in my experience) there is no one to vote “for.” At least for me. The only time I’ve ever voted for a winning presidential candidate was in 1976, and I wish that I hadn’t then.
