  1. Pretty thin gruel here, Rand. Reading your “a lot more” link, it seems that Obama was chairman of a board consisting of a Who’s Who of Chicago trying to promote local control of schools. Since this group was bucking two key Chicago Democratic constituencies, the teacher’s union and the Daley apparatus, it could be seen as proof of Obama’s independence from those groups.

BTW, I thought local control of schools was a libertarian ideal – Jerry Pournelle on his site seems to advocate it every other day.

Jerry Pournelle is not a libertarian. Just ask him.

Actually, he was trying to change who controlled Chicago schools.

It’s “interesting” that Obama supporters are trying to hide who he wanted to transfer control to.

Ordinary folks don’t hide things that make them look good. Is Obama different on this point.

BTW – “Who’s Who” has two meanings. One is the folks who actually control things. They don’t “try” – they do. If Obama’s effort didn’t succeed, it wasn’t that “Who’s Who”. The other is wannabes who pay to be in a vanity book….
