It’s just another revenue scam. Here in Colorado, voters must approve any new taxes or increases on existing taxes. To get round that, governments just tack on new and increased fees (a tax by any other name stinks just as bad). The State Supreme Court allows them to get away with this fraud – anything so the governments get more revenue. Our salaries aren’t going up and many people are losing their jobs but government must never be forced to make do with less. Next up, raising taxes to pay for public employee retirement plans. Our 401Ks are cratering but we must pay more so government employees enjoy a comfortable retirement.
