The Latest Lurio Report

…is out. Clark Lindsey has a summary of it. If you’re a subscriber (and if you’re not, you should be) you can read it here.

Charles seems quite encouraged by recent events. I’m a little less sanguine, because I’ve seen too many times how Washington can really screw things up, even when the people attempting to execute a good policy are acting in good faith.

  1. “Quite encouraged,” a measured phrase, is just about right.

But I’ve seen those Washington screwups as well, of course. We’ve been presented with a huge opportunity, and a very daunting challenge in seeing it to any kind of successful implementation.

So the line that I’ve repeated often in the past remains true: My bottom line hope is that Washington will do no harm to private space efforts. If we get any positive result more than that, it’s gravy.

Given the proposed budget plan, we are confronted with an active obligation to try to extract the most positives – as well as protect from possible negatives.
