Celebrating Earth Day

By disrupting air traffic in New York City.

Somehow, I can’t imagine George W. Bush and Dick Cheney doing this. And as Glenn says, I’ll believe there’s a climate crisis when the people telling me there is start acting like there is. But small carbon footprints, like taxes, are for the little people.

  1. I’ll believe there’s a climate crisis when the people telling me there is start acting like there is.

    Couldn’t have said it better.

  2. Come on Rand, do you really think there was enough room in just one of those planes for BOTH of their egos?

  3. So they’re using a 747-200 and a 757 to carry two people plus strap-hangers from Washington DC to NYC. While the Polish accident shows the risk of putting too many officials on the same plane (God forbid, President Nancy Pelosi is an even more terrifying thought than President Joe Biden), there are smaller planes available for the flights. Also, since Biden was going to NYC to appear on “The View”, was that trip even necessary? Ever hear of a video link, Joe?

It is fitting they’re doing this on Earth Day. My coworkers and I celebrated the day by eating animal products as pizza toppings. If the weather was better, I’d go burn some leaded gasoline in my Piper Cherokee just because I still can.

  4. I’ll believe there’s a climate crisis when the people telling me there is start acting like there is.

What a curious epistemology. So if Obama foreswore cars and planes, and only traveled places he could reach by bicycle, you’d find him more credible? Really?

I’d suspect that he’d lost his mind.

small carbon footprints are for the little people

Big carbon footprints, like other market goods, are for those who can afford them. This notion that you can’t believe in anthropogenic climate change and participate in a market economy is just bizarre.

  5. So if Obama foreswore cars and planes, and only traveled places he could reach by bicycle, you’d find him more credible?

Ah, the fallacy of the excluded middle. Good old illogical, straw-man Jim.

  6. Ever hear of video-conferencing, Jim? The White House has really good communications technology. Before I accept one more word from the likes of Obama about how I have to reduce my so-called carbon footprint, let him and the others who claim AGW do something to reduce theirs (see this story from last year’s Earth Day as an example.). Otherwise, they’re just hypocrits.

  7. “This notion that you can’t believe in anthropogenic climate change and participate in a market economy is just bizarre.”

Who ever (EVER!) said that?! Not only was it never said in the article, I don’t believe the thought has ever occurred to anyone but you — ever.

    Straw Man is right…

  8. “since Biden was going to NYC to appear on “The View”, was that trip even necessary?”

But how is going to show everybody his nifty green energy, job saving, home improvement project with materials he found while strolling around his neighborhood Home Depot on a video conference? I mean doesn’t everyone want to learn how to make a solar powered beer caddy that fits in the console of your ’77 Trans Am.
