  1. Too bad none of the winners seemed all that practical–at the end of the day, pushing volume and mass around (which is, one might claim, the whole point) costs energy, and linear increases in those factors of utility lead to at least somewhat linear increases in cost.

  2. I really enjoy Barnaby’s column in Kitplanes. They are a great introduction and overview of many facets of aircraft design. Hopefully all the articles will be put together in one place one day.

  3. thanks for the hat tip, Rand. As Barnaby said within minutes of meeting me, “I come with airplanes, that’s not negotiable.” Little did I know he came with cars too, although we did have Craig Breedlove in our living room and Barnaby’s fin reportedly saved his life.
