This Is News?

ABC thinks that it’s a big deal that Rush Limbaugh is simply telling the truth:

The nation’s preeminent conservative talk radio host referred to Mr. Obama as a “jackass,” an “economic illiterate” and an “idiot, where capitalism is concerned.”

So, what’s the problem?

This reminds me of the old Soviet joke, about the guy who is arrested after walking down the street shouting “Brezhnev is an idiot.” He was sentenced to thirty-five years — five years for insulting the premier, and thirty for revealing a state secret.

In related news, the president stamped his hooves in petulant anger.

[Update a few minutes later]

It just occurs to me that it’s not a word with which the president is unfamiliar, or loathe to use himself. It’s what he called Kanye West.

  1. What’s the problem? There is a basic difference from back when libs called GWB names, and in the present with Limbaugh calling Obama names. When Bush was called an idiot and a illiterate Texan jackass no one barked because Bush is a WHITE Republican.

It’s all allowable under the Duality Rule for American Politics. For instance, the rhetoric in the NY Governors race.

When Bill Clinton had affairs it was a “personal, family matter” not for the news. But in NY, Paladino’s past affair is PROOF that he’s unfit to be a Governor.

Special rules for special people. And liberals anointed themselves Special People. It’s all quite simple, if you’re special. Or better still, it’s simple if you’re simple!

  2. A jackass in my neighborhood heard this and got so mad that he’s organizing a “Rush Must Apologize to the Jackass-American Community” protest.

  3. ak4mc,
where do we sign up? I don’t think Rush should apologize, but I like the idea of calling his (usual) detractors a Jackass Community.

Are they meeting around the Reflecting Pool? That’s quite in vogue right now you know.

  4. A caller took Rush to task for insulting jackasses shortly after the comment was made, and he apologized for the unintended insult.

  5. Eh…I don’t think he should call the President a jackass in public (between friends over beers is a different story). Good manners, even to jackasses, is a sign of the true conservative and gentleman. He could have implied the President was a jackass easily enough. Rush should study up on Mencken and Churchill to see how to slip the knife in without getting mud on your own eschutcheon.

  6. In the Obama Era, the Hive has replaced “speaking truth to power” with “submit silently, peasants.”

  7. Rush should have called Bambi “BushHitler” – that’s already been approved by the Left/Dems as a Presidential nickname.
