Chris Matthews can’t discern any distinction between “Every child for himself” and “Every man for himself.” Enlightened self-interest among adults does not instantly strip the thin veneer of civilization. Of course, that’s because he’s in tune with his audience.
Matthews exemplifies the Katrina mentality where pols and sadly citizens of NO did little to secure themselves and then spent all their energy bitching cause the equally inept Feds showed up on day four. Hapless folks waiting for govt to solve all their problems. Kudos to the miners for taking the proper life saving initiative right away during those early seemingly hopeless weeks where contact never mind rescue was unknown.
Yet its the collectivist communist Chinese that routinely leave miners in collapsed tunnels to rot and die. Something like over 2000 miners die every year in coal mines in China. This highlights a major problem that arises when you stop acknowledging the rights and liberties of individuals. Collectivists simply shrug it off as a sacrifice that a few have to make for the collective good of the many. A private mining company would face serious challenges hiring new employees if they did not do everything in their power to rescue trap miners. But when the gov’t controls the mine, well sure, they will give you the freedom of choice alright. One being that you go down in the mine and take your chances. The other being a nice cozy spot over there behind the woodshed where you can rest for as long as you like.
Hrmmm.. Rand, I think the first line is the more likely of the two to change… very unlikely, but more so than the second one…
And Chris Matthews is still an idiot.
