That was a great interview! Thanks for the link. What a refreshing change: a nuanced view of a Muslim-majority country as opposed to the view sometimes found here (or at least implied here due to lazy language) that all Muslims are Zombie Death Machines.
As was noted in the comments, I think Berlinski’s analysis of Turkey’s position in the event Iran finishes developing nuclear weapons didn’t take Turkey’s NATO membership into account, but that’s a quibble.
Bob-0, your characterization of the commenters here couldn’t possibly be a result of your own laziness, now could it?
Last time I saw someting as lazy as Bob, it had it’s male gonads snipped at the Vet’s.
McGehee, unlike Rand’s oft-repeated lazy formulation ” we’re at war with Islam”, you do offer nuance on the subject. For example, on January 6th you posted the following comment at this site:
The trouble with referring to Muslims as “moderate” is that “moderate is and always will be a relative term.
The “good cop” in any scenario is always more “moderate” than the bad cop — but both are trying to get you to confess yourself right into a long prison sentence. At best.
With Islam, the “moderate” good cop is offering dhimmi half-citizenship in a worldwide Islamic regime as opposed to the bad cop’s offer of gruesome death.
And that certainly squares with Claire Berlinski’s last five years living in Turkey.
