The Mainstream Media Can’t Stop Lying

about Project Gunwalker:

Automatic weapons were not among those being trafficked from American gun shops to Mexican cartels.

Not a single one.

They have been heavily regulated since the National Firearms Act of 1934, and in the 77 years since that became the law of the land, machine guns like those you would find in a a few specialized gun shops have been used in just two illegal homicides.

In yet another unsigned editorial, the New York Times leads with the blatant fabrication that 70 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States. This is the most recent talking point created by Democrats, released just before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform heard testimony from ATF whistleblowers about Operation Fast and Furious in June.

The statistical misrepresentation is a variation of the 90 percent lie that the Obama administration has been using since the president was inaugurated. In actuality, 83 percent of guns used by the cartels come from somewhere other than the United States, and of the 17 percent traced to U.S. origins, roughly 8 percent were traced to U.S. gun shops.

Plus, we now know that a substantial portion of the weapons that transited gun shops did so as a direct result of federal law enforcement agencies telling dealers to make questionable sales to suspected cartel gun runners.

A fact the Times conveniently and purposefully ignores.

It’s hard for them to not lie, or be mistaken about guns in general, given how ideologically driven and ignorant they are on the subject.

  1. Obama needs jowls so he can make peace signs and tell us all he’s not a lying, murdering, bastard, crook.

  2. I’ve stopped calling MSM people reporters. They are propagandists in every sense of the word and have been for a long time.

  3. Being oblivious to the distinction between “automatic” and “semi-automatic”, plus the profligate use of the ill-defined, propagandist term “assault weapon” is SOP for the liberal media. And happens far too often to be simple ignorance.

  4. ken,
I’m old enough to remember Watergate. All I remember is the lying and crook parts of Nixon’s resume. And IF Obama admits to lying, why is he tied back to a REPUBLICAN?

Is there a shortage of lying Democrats? Now or ever?

Because, in the last 40 years of my lifetime, it hasn’t been that way. Hell, in the last 10 years alone we’ve had about a 10 to 1 ratio of Dems caught / prosecuted / run out of town on a rail for lying (about other crimes they got caught committing). Although most just draw a circle in the sand with their toe, say, “…sorry…”, and keep right on running / serving.

And when Nixon threw up the Peace Sign he at least meant it as per the times. He got us out of Viet Nam, which was the ‘peace’ the crowds wanted.

    And last but not least.

I find it ironic that you trot Nixon out today, when the WH just got caught with a ton of e-mails talking trash about attempts at trashing Fox news as the ‘enemy’. As I recall, again being of that age, Nixon was soundly called out for even HAVING an enemies list, by the very leftist who are now in D.C. as our Overlords.

    (their word, not mine)

  5. This episode is very disturbing. If this were any other presidential administration, even Clinton, the press would be all over this thing. And they should be. But instead so much of the press might as well be in bed with the executive branch on this story. It makes one wonder why anyone should be even a little sad about the ongoing slow death of traditional newspapers.

  6. This is a good gauge of the remaining influence of the MSM. If they ignore a story, it goes away. Gunwalker will go away, of that I have absolutely no doubt.

  7. Why does everyone give Clinton a pass? He was the worst violator of civil rights since Woodrow Wilson. I remember one time there was a local problem on the Internet, and I was sweating, thinking that he might be closing it down in the process of declaring a state of emergency.

It was hell living under the Clinton regime. As far as constitutional rights went, it was even worse than Obama, although the economy was better. So far at least, Obama hasn’t set a house full of Seventh Day Adventists on fire and burned men, women, and children to death.

  8. As far as Gunwalker goes, might I give a suggestion on how not to make it go away? Get the word out via the various networks of gun owners, who are most affected by it. Every gun owner should be e-mailing all his shooting buddies about this attempt to frame them for Obama’s gunrunning.

One thing people like Chris Matthews don’t get, but Obama and Reid do get, is that America’s 100 million gun owners are not to be fucked with, and that, as hard as it might be for Bill Maher to comprehend, those gun owners are a bipartisan group who nevertheless vote their gun rights when they are at stake. (Obama won because Heller seemed to take that issue off the table).

Obama cannot win if gun owners are united against him.

A secondary good effect of this: it makes it more likely that Obama will cave on the debt negotiations. Why? Because if the economy goes south, but he still demagogues his way to a highly unpopular second term, he will have impeachment hanging over his head.

  9. The real place the Republicans need to make sure gets saturated with Gunwalker is Pennsylvania.

That is a massivly gunwoning state that is a must-win for Obama.

Obama is shaky there now, this could easily finish him and if he don’t carry PA, the odds of his re-election are excruciatingly slim.

I really think the media are doing theimselves a dis-service. If they wanted to help Obama, they would let this come out now and hope they can diffuse it before the campaign season begins in earnest.

Next year, the opposing candidate can force the MSM to confront this whether they like it or not and it will not be at a time and place of their chosing.

I kind of hope they do keep trying to ignore it.

  10. Der Schtumpy, It’s the jowls. No president has had a more distinctive face. Watergate always confused me. Nixon did what other politicians did. The media went after him. Obama does worse and the media covers for him.

Obama would not be president if the media told the truth about him.

  11. When I was very young, I thought Richard Nixon and Ed Sullivan were the same person.

  12. Mike, that’s understandable. Even today lots of people think Obama and Jimmy Carter are the same person.
