Simpsons Fail

A lot have been complaining about The Simpsons going downhill over the past several years. I agree that there have been some egregious moments in the series, but overall, I still have found each episode mostly enjoyable. But not tonight. It may be possible to spoof Mad Men, but they certainly didn’t succeed. It’s the first time I can recall watching The Simpsons and not laughing. And that’s saying something. Whoever the writers were, they clearly don’t understand what they were satirizing at all. They may be too young.

[Monday morning update]

OK, I exaggerated. This was funny: “Why can’t I be funny with just my words? Bill Maher doesn’t put dangerous things near his crotch, except when he’s off work.” – Krusty Clown

  1. Hey, who’d have thought Steven den Beste was an anime fan, much less ready to switch to anime blogging? I blogged for many years and ended up writing a Shakespearean version of Battlestar Galactica, already longer than Hamlet when only half done, which followed a bizarre post about Star Wars.

But in all these cases, you must keep in mind that our hearts still beat oxydizer ratios, Isp, thermal radiative balance, and most importantly, politics and economics. So what if we occassionally post on the merits of “The Walking Dead” as Zombie Apocalyptic literature, or favor “Pan Am” over “Terra Nova” due to the difference in writing and story quality?

And in the long run, isn’t Bart Simpson more likely to go beyond low Earth orbit than the SLS?

He already has. At the speed of light I might add.

      1. Take the Sagittarius Arm until you get to the Slauson Cutoff. Get out of the battlestar, cut off your slauson, get back in the battlestar. Then drive 500 parsecs until you get to…THE FORK IN THE ROAD SPACE.

      1. Ah Conan way too early Simpsons still had a few good years after that hack left. Phil Hartman death about right. Or closer to the point of the first retro of the Simpson history, I seem to remember 2 to 3 of them. Last one that firmly placing Marge and Homer as college students/teenagers of the 80’s, early 90’s which was the worse of the retros.
