  1. A pony for every girl. A rabbit in every pot. A bed for every worker. A promise of unicorns and skittles that will never be fulfilled. But hey, free healthcare!

  2. I long for the day when anyone who declares himself a Marxist, socialist or communist is treated with the same justifiable scorn that we heap on a self-proclaimed Nazi.

  3. And somehow OWS supporters are denying the role that communists have played in the demonstrations and their goals.

    1. They are just modern day Jesus and his Disciples. Don’t you know Jesus was a community organizer too?

But don’t call them Christians. They’re not homophobes.

  4. So let’s check the scorecard. The Tea Party? Been kicking since 2009 and made a great showing in 2010 elections and currently is influencing the Republican nominations. The Occupy Wallstreet protests? Burned out, but rich people remain unpopular. I imagine we’ll see a OWS part II coming up as elections get closer, but someone will need to change their tactics, and maybe their constituency, if they’re going to get any traction in the next election. Most of the electorate really isn’t interested in college students dodging student loans, for example.

    1. Maybe they’ll try occupying polling places like the new Black Panthers did in 2008.

I’ll have my pocket media studio with me if that happens where I go to vote.

  5. “we allowed the left to take over the academy in the sixties.”

Has there ever been a high concentration of Capitalists in academia? Or has the Right been too busy out earning a living in the real world?

    1. With college enrollment being one way for rich kids to avoid the draft back then, quite a few people stayed in college for a very long time. Note: not all of them were liberals (IIRC: Newt) but a lot of them were. Those more left of center were pushing for “relevancy” back then, meaning teach stuff that we want to hear instead of what you think we should know. As the older profs retired, many from this cohort moved into academia and it has been mostly downhill ever since.
