  1. “The group’s analysis found that, in the eight politically-pivotal states that register voters by party, a significant number have left the Democratic party since 2008, with many choosing to register as independents.”

They might not admit they are Democrats and no one will be in the voting booth to expose them when they vote for the Obama again.

    1. That’s assuming they return to the voting booth. I imagine we’ll see a lot of holding of the nose though. After all, they had to vote for Obama when the other side was offering an, ugh, Republican.

As an aside, I predict that Obama is going to have a tough time in the primaries despite having no credible opposition whatsoever. Maybe Democrats will flock, as Jim has threatened, to the Republicans to throw the vote, but I imagine more than a few are disgruntled by the “choice” they have.

  2. Not to rain on parades, but I think this is fairly standard procedure at this point in the election cycle when the incumbent is eligible for re-election. People are registering Republican or Independent (depending on the state) so they can vote in the GOP primary. There is no point in voting in the Democrat primary – Obama will win.

Just saying, I wouldn’t jump to too many conclusions from this.
