Obama’s Support

…is faltering in Iowa:

Bobby Burns has had a dramatic change of heart.

Burns, 23, was one of those young people swept up in Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Three years and one college degree later, he cannot imagine a scenario in which he would consider voting for the president’s re-election.

“I guess you could say I have seen the light,” he said.

On Tuesday he will caucus in a precinct right down the road from where he grew up. His vote will go for Mitt Romney.

It’s not just Iowa. And this is the president’s problem. There are a lot of people who feel this way. On the other hand, I think you’d be pretty hard put to find anyone who voted for McCain who’s going to vote for him in November.

  1. I hope you are right.

Obama can be beaten if his opponent makes him face is words and deeds, past and present, and calls him, to his face, on every fabrication, distortion and outright lie. Obama is too tricky and skilled to let things slide.

  2. There are plenty of legit reasons for Iowans to fall out of love with Obama, but I have to believe some of this is a side-effect of what has to be a ruthless ad bombardment from the GOP candidates. Fringe benefit?

  3. I wonder how Obama will fare against the farce candidates in the early primaries, especially since some of them are actually campaigning. I imagine, for example, that Vermin Supreme is going to get more than 41 votes this time around in the New Hampshire primary. And Terry Randall might put in some religious conservatives for his anti-abortion platform.
