  1. The first comment over there really nailed it:

From the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition on Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)…

The symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder revolve around a pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and sense of entitlement. Often individuals feel overly important and will exaggerate achievements and will accept, and often demand, praise and admiration despite worthy achievements. They may be overwhelmed with fantasies involving unlimited success, power, love, or beauty and feel that they can only be understood by others who are, like them, superior in some aspect of life.

There is a sense of entitlement, of being more deserving than others based solely on their superiority. These symptoms, however, are a result of an underlying sense of inferiority and are often seen as overcompensation. Because of this, they are often envious and even angry of others who have more, receive more respect or attention, or otherwise steal away the spotlight.

Politicians are often narcissitic but Obama is the worst I’ve seen. Every thing that he talks about has to come back to him. He’s like the old joke where the vain man tells his date, “Enough about me. Tell me what you think about me.”

The Travon Martin shooting is a classic example. Instead of inserting himself into a story or at most expressing sympathy for the family, he had to make himself part of the story by saying if he’d had a son, he’d look like Martin.

  2. The danger in all this is that such people never recognize when they have made a mistake. They just keep making the same ones over and over again.

  3. Before “Il Dufe” was elected president, we were told by his flacks in the MSM (including servile “Uncle Dave” conservatives like Brooks and Frum) that he was “the smartest guy in the room.” Given Obama’s coterie and henchmen, that may not be the biggest compliment in the world.

  4. You know there are people that will just talk, talk, talk a good game but when they get called out on they just never seem to deliver. You see a glimmer every once in a while but it’s fleeting. It’s just enough to keep you hanging on, hangin’ on. But then it disappears again and you don’t see it in them for quite some while. And there’s nothing knocking on that because I think most 80% of people probably operate under those biometrics. But this is the presidency were talking about. This is the guy your supposed to elect to be your closer in the 9th; your guard draining the trey in the final minute. But Obama is like Michael Jordan trying to play baseball. He just knows deep down in the hearts of every heart that he got’s so much game, that he can play at any level. But reality is a cold bitch that will bite you back down to earth no matter how much hope and change you got. He’s a great on the Chicago farm team but he can’t play at the national level. He’s the star prospect that got moved up too quickly into a franchise position and now his unconscious acuity is shattered under the weight of hyped up expectations. Someone in that spot generally just crumbles into mediocrity and doubles down on irrational overconfidence.
