Everything good in her life she owes to him. She’s what the lawyers would call “non composite mentis.” She’s not competent to do a single thing for herself — and, from Barack’s point of view, that’s exactly what he’s looking for in a woman, if only for a one-night stand on a Tuesday in early November.

The whole kerfluffle is beginning to confirm a growing suspicion of mine.
Theorists and philosophers of the future will regard female suffrage, let alone “women’s lib”, with derisive horror. They will freely note that many women are capable of being societal contributors, but point to things like this as evidence that any contributions are swamped by the burden of Julias.
