Here’s an excellent example of the lack of self-awareness or irony on the part of social scientists. Unfortunately, too many in the climate “science” community are more social scientists than real ones.

lowut?! 🙂 They should just rename their *cough* “seminar” to “OMG! Can’t We Just Shut These Phucing People Up Somehow?!”, open up a few bottles of wine, and let them vent their spleens. Seems like a better time would be had — and more “productive” as well for the intended goals, anyway.
The same phenom can be seen in some physical science types too. Exhibit A: Dr. Phil Plait. On most subjects, he’s actually quite good (his take down of Richard C. Hoagland is one of the best), but when it comes to climate change (or whatever the hell they’re calling it this year) he goes into pure “true believer, burn the heretics!” mode. It’s actually quite amusing to watch a self-described skeptic use so many logical fallacies in his arguments.
