  1. As I’m pretty much a happy hermit these days I seldom hear anybody say anything.
However, the great little comic strip, Wizard of Id, frequently shows signage proclaiming “the King is a fink”.

    1. That’s the source of the line in the article.

I used to hear “rat fink” when I was in grade school. “Fink” was pretty much restricted to people who broke confidences when I was in college. I don’t remember hearing it at all since I got out.

  2. I just realized the King in the Wizard of Id can only be an Ottoman Sultan. His mother is a slave; he keeps inconvenient relatives in jail; he talks back to the priest without any worry about excommunication…

  3. What if you scoop it with your hands?

Try it and see if that’s work or free.

They say the ultimate free lunch is the universe itself which has exactly zero energy (coming out of nothing.) Not sure I buy that.

Pragmatcally, you get a lot farther believing in TANSTAAFL than not. The problem is like that of a bad economist who ignore part of the equation. Children do get free lunches because their parents pay for them. This may actually be the realization that marks the transition from child to adult. Lefties never make that transition (because they just don’t care.)
