I’m a dyed in the wool Conservative and as such, I don’t want environmental reform, I want water so dirty an elephant could walk across a river on it, and air so chunky, nasty and smokey that old people are dropping like flies!

And of course the eeeeeeeeevil George W. Bush wanted filthy air and water and gasoline at $25 a gallon right before asking voters to re-elect him.

PERC is a pretty good outfit – essentially a free market, property rights based environmental group. And it is property rights that will be the solution for environmental issues.
There was a pretty good rewrite of the Endangered Species Act by Richard Pombo (R, CA) who was defeated by green money in 2006. It can be resurrected pretty easily. Cheers –
