Aside from the somewhat silly premise, it’s not a bad movie for its budget and era. It definitely tries to be harder SF than most movies of that time, so the dated look of the technology is rather amusing in hindsight.
You can kind of tell they’re used to directing puppets rather than actors, though.
In fairness, I’ve heard Joss Whedon refer to actors as “meat puppets.”
Why a space agency needs an interrogation room isn’t quite explained.
