I graduated high school in 1975. There was so much about that lousy decade that just sucked eggs, so picking on hair styles is aiming low. Some of the lowlights of that decade include:
1. OPEC oil embargo causing gas prices to double practically overnight (the year I got my driver’s license)
2. Almost all of what passed as popular music but especially disco
3. Jimmy Carter
4. Stagflation and the misery index
5. Jimmy Carter
6. Gas prices doubling again when the Shah was deposed from Iran
7. Did I mention Jimmy Carter?
8. 99% of the movies that tried to cash in on the popularity of Star Wars, such as Battle Beyond the Stars featuring John Boy in space and spaceships with tits. OK, it came out in 1980 but was probably shot in the 70s. While there were some great movies made in the 1970s (Godfather 1 & 2, Star Wars, The Outlaw Josey Wales), the most god-awful movie I ever watched (and that includes those shown in school and Army basic training) came from the 1970s (Quintet).
