One thought on “Statins”

  1. I’ve had three people in my immediate family experience cognitive impairment shortly after beginning to take Statins. (Memory loss, intermittent episodes of severe confusion, etc.) In one case, the impairment was severe enough to cause a diagnosis of dementia.

In all three cases, their cognitive condition improved dramatically after ceasing satins (though in one case, they didn’t return fully to normal, just mostly).

That’s more than enough evidence for me to make my personal decision; say no. (my cholesterol us below the old guidelines, but barely above the new ones, so my doctor attempted to put me on statins.).

I mention this often because docs never seem to warn about, or even mention, the cognitive risk, even though it’s finally appeared in the prescribing info.
