The Bin Laden Raid

Did Obama lie about it?

Probably, he lies (or at least deludes himself) about most things. The problem is, the source is Sy Hersh, so there’s no way to tell what the real story is.

[Update a while later]

I’d note that if he wasn’t buried at sea, that would be a good thing. I still think that, if he was given a traditional Islamic burial, it was a monumentally stupid thing to do.

As an aside, it’s hard to believe I wrote that four years ago. Where does the time go?

  1. On 2 May 2011 about 1230 MDT, I saw a large four engine jet plane flying over my place near Calgary, high up on a southeast heading. I’ve seen lots of these jets as it’s on the route from Alaska to the continental USA. This was the only one I’ve ever seen before or since that was escorted by four fighter jets. It would have been approximately 20 hours after the raid.

Coincidence? My thought at the time was that if it wasn’t carrying bin Laden, then it was carrying his hard drives. It’s easy to Photoshop death photos, and “buried at sea” always seemed odd.
